Pitch Type Values: Batters & Leaders
A couple weeks ago we debuted the Pitch Type Values for pitchers in the player pages allowing you to see how effective a particular pitch has been for any pitcher over the past 7 years.
We’ve now updated the player pages for batters so you can also see how well they fare against each particular pitch. In addition, this information is now available in sortable form in the leaderboards, team pages, and my team sections.

Did you ever know that you’re my heeeeeroooooo…..
I hardly have time to read THT and StatSpeak as it is… and here you go making this site even better??? It’s just unfair! think of all the other blogs that I don’t need to read because I get better, more concise, more indepth information here??? This is foul play!
That is so cool.
Could someone supply a quick explanation of how to interpret these? Or a pointer to a page that does so?
These are runs above average by pitch type. Everything is in runs. If it’s a “/C” stat, it’s normalized to 100 pitches, so Runs above average per 100 pitches.
They work like this:

David rocks my socks. You’re the fucking man, dude!
It’s comforting as a Mariners fan to know that our two bad-fielding middle infielders are among the worst fastball hitters in the league too. Jose Lopez is only above average against changes and knucklers. Cool.
