Padilla is reported to have a drinking problem. But his bigger problem is that he is a loner and his teammates just don't like him and he likes to drill guys after getting hit hard which causes the other team to retaliate and nail Young or Kinsler. Padilla was shown smiling in the dugout after Young got hit in return in his last start and that was the last straw for the Rangers because he was warned previously..

Padilla was clocked at 97 mph in his last start and has been effective for the most part so someone will be smart to pick him up. He's a low risk, high reward guy at this point. A 10-15 game winner ain't that easy to find these days even if he does like a toss em back and doesn't give a darn whether anybody likes him or not..

An interesting negotiating tactic, recieving an option for 1.75M, when coming off a 3yr/33M deal. If Padillahad panned out, this contract would have been a major boost for the Rangers by being getting an SP so cheap for 2010. For comparison, Gil Meche doesn't have a 1M option at the tail end of his 5yr/55M deal.

That is a terrible thing to say.

If he does have a drinking problem, then I hope he gets help. It is a medical problem, and it should be treated as such.

If he doesn't have a drinking problem and instead is just a poor major league baseball player, then this is still a completely inexcusable.

I hope nobody actually thinks like this.
