I know the Brewers were awfully impatient with Morlan last year, but I think Lofgren's got a decent shot to stick in the 'pen for them. This is all providing he's capable of getting hitters out, of course. Going off what Recca said, I can see Johnson sticking, too. I was really shocked that Baltimore chose to protect guys like Florimon and Hughes over him. Osuna and Ambriz are possibilities as well, not necessarily because they're going to do exceedingly well, but because their respective new teams' bullpens are in a complete and total flux.

Nice article, Erik!

I think, given the departure of Rich Harden, the Cubs may keep Michael Parisi (formerly of the Cardinals) if he can show his numbers following his recovery from Tommy John surgery are legit. Of course, he's got to beat out his competition for that 5th starters spot (Sean Marshall, Jeff Samardzja, others), which shouldn't be a problem if he can translate his recent success into Spring Training.

Still, his odds are probably less than the three previously mentioned Rule 5 players.

Wow, thought for sure I would have seen Steve Johnson's name on that list.

The Cubs kept David Patton all the way through 2009, although he was pretty bad and they probably shouldn't have.

You forgot to mention the Royals pick, Edgar Osuna. I don't know that he would stick with any other team (his stuff profiles better as an NL control style starting pitcher and successful Rule 5 picks are generally bullpen guys), buth will surely stick with the Royals due to his most important attibrute.... he is an ex-Brave! Dayton loves him some ex-Braves (see Pena Jr., Tony; Ramirez, Horacio; and on and on and on......) so I expect to see Edgar trotting out of the bullpen for mop-up duty all year (or at least until Hillman rides Meche into the ground and then sticks the Rule 5 kid in the rotation). Good times!
