Site Status

Unfortunately, I was not well enough prepared for the trade deadline this season and the server FanGraphs is running on couldn’t quite take the traffic load. Sometime tonight FanGraphs will be down for approximately 30 minutes for server upgrades which will hopefully allow for a much smoother running FanGraphs. Thanks for your patience!

    Sorry for breaking your website.
Consider it a compliment that the one place EVERYBODY wants to go when baseball crap happens is yours (ESPN who?).
    Thanks for the awesomeness.

Excellent. I’ve been noticing the site has been running slow lately.

Yeah, kind of surprising to say, but fangraphs is definitely my first stop for good baseball analysis nowadays.

I echo the sentiments of the above. FanGraphs and BBRef are the Albert Pujolses of baseball stats websites.

Too much traffic, although a hassle, is a good thing. Congrats on getting too big for your Internet tubes!

Especially good at analyzing the deadline trades and assessing the prospects that your Rob Neyers will gloss over.

On another note… would SF really trade Tim Alderson 1-1 for rental Sanchez? Luckily that’s still a rumor, I don’t see it posted here!

To be fair, it’s not like everyone on ESPN is a talking head idiot.
Many writers realize the value of nerding out.

Fangraphs is unique in the way that it’s kind of simplified what baseball prospectus has been saying for years, making it easier for the casual reader to “get it” without knowing what MLVr or EqA or anything means.

WAR, simple to compute and understand. Best? Up for debate, but most anyone can understand that an average defensive CF with a +20 bat who gets 650 PA’s rounds out to about a +3 WAR.
