Team Pages Updated

The team pages have just been updated to be a lot more useful in my opinion. Instead of being directed directly to the team that won the last World Series, you will initially be directed to the team stats page which has team totals for everything available on the leaderboards.

No longer do you have to wonder which team has been the best in Clutch batting, or which team’s relievers have the best K/BB ratio.

From the team page you can drill down on any particular team you want and get all the stats available in the leaderboard section, including the ability to filter by month and the last 7, 14, 30 days.

Feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions or if anything is broken.

  5. David, fantastic as usual. I would love to also see you add split stats for both players and teams such as vs. lefties/righties, home/away and maybe even monthly and pre/post-ASB. Is this something you might add in the future?

  6. Splits have been on the to-do list for a while. Hopefully I can get them done this off-season. Glad everyone is liking the new team pages!

Cool. Just wondering why WPA doesn’t ‘balance’. Pitchers add up to positive 11.82 WPA (hitters negative 11.82). Is it cuz of errors?

  8. SamoanRob, it’s a run environment thing, where it’s not perfectly balanced and it’s really difficult to get it exactly balanced. 12 wins isn’t going to make much of a difference anyway and I think the consensus on how much work it was to fix just isn’t worth the .05 wins that a full time pitcher/batter would lose/gain.

Thanks. The team pages are great. Check out the Indians Relief WPA from 2005-2008. They yo-yo from 4th to 30th to 2nd to 29th. Kind of explains how they are surpisingly good or surprisingly bad every year now.

I have a theory that the bottom relief WPA teams exceed expectations the following year and vice versa. Not that relief is luck, but it doesn’t seem to repeat. Not sure how to test the theory tho.

Guess who had the top Relief WPA in the AL and NL this year (Hint: they’re still playing)
