Edwin Jackson was a great pitcher(first half usually, but always breaks down.) After dominating the American League again, his past two starts have seen his ERA since being traded from 1.47 to 2.94. He's also walking far less guys while, and had 3 straight double digit k games. He's the most aggravating pitcher to watch, because he should be an all-star every year.

Scherzer only makes 1.5 million, and is only 26. The dude k's a guy an inning, and is sporting a 3.60 ERA now after looking like a complete disaster at the start of the season until he was sent down to the minors to work on mechanics.

Both pitchers can be lights out, or a horrible disappointment. If Arizona had Scherzer, Haren(and hadn't bet on Brandon Webb coming back to be top of the rotation pitcher), they might have been far better. Scherzer's ERA in the N.L would be lower for sure...

I loved Edwin Jackson! I thought he was an amazing player and did a lot for the team. I was quite heated when he was traded!

<a href="http://www.easyforexinvest.info" rel="nofollow">Stock Investment</a>
I have been informed by MRI that there was no VAT paid on the furniture, hence why I had to pay it, so I dont really see that I am paying it twice, I was however in the belief that there where no other costs! Anyway I paid and my furniture is in, I have recieved pictures and an email confirmation that my packs are in place and I have had a friend stay in my 4 leaf clover apartment recently and confirmed all is well and the packs look nice.I am unsure if we are allowed to name individuals and to be honest most communication has been by email other than the initial call, which was from a helpful chap called Rick.

But the whole point is to try evaluate talent and potential now, because, well, that's what MLB GMs have to try to do as well. Its just intellectually lazy to take a "wait and see" approach.

How do you know they didn't decline it?

The CWS have been trying for Dunn for some time. You really think that WSN said "Give us Hudson for him", and the Sox said "Nah" and then went to get Edwin Jackson, hoping to trade him for Adam Dunn.

My guess is that WSN said they were looking for an established starter, who could pitch a lot of innings, save the bullpen some, and be a consistent performer in the rotation that will eature a lot of young guys.

Then the CWS went out and acquired such a guy, hoping that WSN would take him for Dunn, or at the very worst, fill in for an injured SP.

Why didn't they trade Hudson for Dunn? The Nats would be ecstatic to build their rotation around Hudson and Kaiser Strasburg

David,

I wanted to apologize for saying this ...

<blockquote>Evaluating these trades, at this point, is dumb.</blockquote>

What I meant to state was that it is or can be "premature", not dumb. I had to leave after making that post to go help pass out youth football equipment, and I thought about my choice of words on the drive there, and how they could be perceived.

Thanks for the time invested, and the work done, to help keep us all informed of what is going on, and how it might affect both teams. I didn;t want to sound like an ungrateful SOB, but I sure did.

Agreed. Prospects are completely overrated. I'd much rather have gritty, hard-nosed veterans who know how to play the game the right way.

The Diamondbacks don't know what they're doing with their organization. They pulled the trigger way too early on dealing Haren and got basically nothing in return for him, and bringing in Jackson was a mistake from the begining.
