He qualifies at 2B and SS and he might not win a batting title this year but I wouldnt be suprised if he wins one or two in his career. They said the same thing about Howie Kendrick though and actually there is a long list of players in the MI who have hit for high average with low peripherals. Jose Vidro comes to mind. These guys peak right away. Keppinger was my first Free Agent pickup in both of my leagues this year. The guy is a contact machine. If you have Tony Gwynn as a high side comp, perhaps you put Freddy Sanchez on the low side -- and Sanchez won a batting title. It's a shame it took him so long to get a real opportunity, but Keppinger is no fluke. Since joining the Reds, Keppinger has a 2.14 BB/K ratio. The guy is a contact machine.
