What I don;t get about Wallace is when the Cards had an injury at 3B, rather than call up Wallace, they went with Barden and Thurston, before acquiring DeRosa.

Interesting to note that TOR drafted Wallace in the 42nd round out of HS, then StL drafted him in 08 out of college.

When you look at Wallace's combine 09 MiLB #'s they look pretty good. I just cannot figure out why StL would not call him up when it looked like they needed a good 3B to fill in for Glaus during the injury and Barden was terrible.

Is/Was it a financially thing?

Marc,

I think EVERYTHING you wrote about Kyle Draek are major concerns.

Not that he doesn;t still have the potential to be great one day, but: [1] His most impressive stats dropped significantly with teh move from high-A to AA, [2] already had major surgery, [3] immaturity and undersized.

I wonder if Drabek has EVER "struggled" before AA? Be interesting to see how he responds.

A lot of guys have looked promising when they dominate some level of A-ball. You'd at least like to see those among the highest touted of them, come closer to duplicating that dominance at the 'next level'.

Gillies' skill set sounds a lot like Shane Victorino, minus the switch-hitting.

That's weird. Yankee fans should have seen a lot of how good Halladay is.

Agreed. In addition to Aumont being a reliever, i think he is underrating Taylor. He mentions the .361 babip in AA. His babip in A and A+ was even higher. He is surely somewhat lucky, but he may also be inclined to high babips. I think he may be more than .270 to .290 hitter eventually in the majors.

Agree with others, no way Aumont is ahead of Taylor. Even if Philly abandons the reliever role, that doesn't change the fact that he's a two-pitch guy. Taylor just brought Wallace to Toronto, there's no way Aumont nets a Wallace type bat. To me, there's a fairly large gap between Aumont and the top 2.

"C’mon Mark, leave the cheap shots out of your analysis. Who was Toronto playing all the time it owned Halladay? How easy for a writer to be brash and condescending. It’s ultimately only a reflection on you."

Perhaps a little less coffee in the morning good buddy. Marc's comment is fair-Halladay has not been in the play-offs, and because the Jays are in Canada they rarely make ( if ever?) ESPN national games ( why advertise to only one market?). Frankly most casual fans don't have a clue how good this guy is.

I flip-flopped Aumont and Taylor in the prospect ranking three times... so I'd rate them neck-and-neck... Aumont has injury concerns, but Taylor also has Type 1 diabetes, which I've read can affect players abilities to recover quickly from injuries. So there are a few question marks with both players. The light-bulb could still go on for Aumont and there is no guarantee that he's a reliever for life.

The comment you say is brash is based on all the comments I'm reading from posters from places like Philly, New York, etc. Based on the general consensus, it seems to be that a lot of fans (at least those making comments) don't understand just how good Roy is... and how a guaranteed No. 1 starter is worth a boatload of talent.

Considering the Phillies didn't really give up much to get Lee they couldn't expect (having erased a 1/2 year of contract time from that date) to get that much back. That being said what should really be discussed is whether the Phillies could have made this deal, without Seattle, last year and have it cost them a lot less. Remember the Phillies saying Drabek was untouchable? What happened to that?
