Nat, it's a joke. The funniest line I've ever heard was this past off-season when someone said "Kyle Lohse could get Gil Meche money."

Pablo, Dave Studeman found, at The Hardball Times not too long ago, that BABIP accurately correlated to the LD% + .120.

So, if a guy has 15.5% LD we can expect his BABIP would be in the .275 range (.155+.120). It got annoying typing "expected" all the time so I just started calling it xBABIP.

Where do you get xBABIP numbers from. I'm assuming it involves a players LD/FB/GB percentages since they fall for hits different amount of times, and multiplying them by that percentage and adding them up result in an expected Ba/Bip? If you could just tell me what site provides the xBABIP numbers that would be great.

Are you suggesting that Carlos Silva or Gil Meche are worth Carlos Silva or Gil Meche money?
