While BABIP is based on luck in some fashion, the correlation with luck and BABIP on ground balls is not as strong. If his BABIP on line drives had as much as it had on ground balls I think we would have more of an issue than we do. You fail to mention that his huge drop in BABIP was not caused by a huge drop in BABIP on line drives, but rather on ground balls. While BABIP is based on luck in some fashion, the correlation with luck and BABIP on ground balls is not as strong. If his BABIP on line drives had as much as it had on ground balls I think we would have more of an issue than we do.
