Kudos, Stamos. Your approach to Cistulli's oeuvre is as surgical in precision as it is breathtaking in scope, like an atomic bomb designed to destroy anal cysts. My only wish is that you develop the criticism more, and do justice to your ideas.

Thats a dumb comment. What does the above discussion have to do with Football? You think teams like the Steelers, Pats and Eagles dont use statistical anlaysis? Making such a broad generalization about this article and comparing it to football analysis would be like someone making a general comment that 'anyone that uses "PhD" in their user name is probably an arrogant baby that lives in an ivory tower and can't get a real job.'

A post like this shows why baseball is far more than football will ever be. It will be a long offseason as usual!

This is awesome. Every writer I know who complains that "nobody reads anymore" or "there are more writers now than there are readers" should read this article (and the blog). I love when commenters at USSM start talking about McSweeney's in the middle of an unrelated conversation, and I love seeing talk of George Saunders showing up here.

And, btw, for those interested in contemporary baseball fiction, Hobart puts up a baseball issue right around Spring Training that winds up being on my must-read list alongside the transaction wire. They're at http://hobartpulp.com (I'd like 'em better if they weren't Tiger fans).
