Wolf was a horrendous signing, of the sort that mid-market teams with an eye towards contention can't afford to make. Sadly, he fits right in with the likes of Hawkins, Hall, Hoffman, and especially Suppan as pretty bad moves for the Crew in the last few years. I realise it's not a particularly popular opinion, but I actually think the Brewers should consider putting Melvin out to pasture before doing anything else.

I think they should've moved Fielder coming into this year and gone with Gamel at 1B if there was any interest in him (esp. from the likes of Boston), I'm assuming his value will be quite a bit lower at the end of the year and any chance of netting a premium prospect will likely be gone. If they're serious about contention next year, I think I'd probably just keep Prince now and take the draft picks at the end of the year. They sold horrendously low on JJ Hardy and it'd be a real shot in the gut for them to have to do that to another big name player.

I think that's pretty clear to anyone with more than a cursory interest in baseball. But who should they sell? And who to? What areas in their minor league system should they be looking to improve? Which teams might be interested in their more moveable assets? What might they be looking to do, financially and in terms of their playing staff, going into 2011?

In no way do I wish to bash a site that offers great free stats and the occasional excellent article, so please take this as (hopefully) constructive criticism, but these articles really aren't answering any of the questions they pose. Even as a non-Milwaukee fan, I knew most of this already and I imagine a good percentage of the readership here did too.

I think the Brew Crew should stand pat. Make some upgrades in the offseason and look forward to a bounceback season in 2011.

They are not in a forced position to trade anyone of value.

Cory Hart should be moved as he's going to be due a big raise from the 4.8m he's earning this season. Or the team could move prince and try to make a 3yr deal with hart but harts been too inconsistent. I've said it before and ill say it again...tier 2 starting pitchers are the most overpayed in the game. The brewers are better off signing a legit ace for 15m a year rather than paying wolf 10m and davis 5m to suck this year.

I think your criticism is premature. They seem to be working in reverse order of the standings. Obviously, articles on bad teams will pretty much just list players they will be looking to move. Generally, you don't trade major league players for specific pieces so much as the most talent you can get someone to give up. I expect the series will become more interesting as they start to look at teams on the buy/sell threshold and more directed as they start to look at the buyers (who will have specific needs rather than a list of movable parts).

If they trade Hart they might as well see if Katin can handle major league pitching.

Smoak has hit .289/.396/.489 in June. The production is growing not withering.

If the Brewers wanted to trade Hart, they could either play Edmonds full time in right or try Mat Gamel out there or put McGehee out there and put Gamel at 3rd and hope his defense improves.

Very much looking forward to freeing up the $12.5 million for Suckpan and the $8 million for Bill Hall that's just laying there this year.

Do you think the Rangers would have any interest in Prince (especially after he hit multiple bombs off them last series)?

Martin Perez is probably too high a price to pay, but maybe a Tanner Scheppers for Prince? He could fill in at 1B the rest of the season to shore up the withering offensive production there, and take the role of Vlad Guerrero next season the DH spot. Plus, his hitting skill set probably plays well at the Ballpark, and 1B is a place where an increase in marginal wins would make a big difference for Texas.
