Rick Kranitz has been an amazing Pitching Coach so far with this staff. He's proving that Leo really wasn't a "genius" after all. Anyone could've been a "genius" Pitching Coach with the staffs he had in Atlanta. All Leo kept preaching in Baltimore was to through every pitch low and away, instead of attacking the hitters. Kranitz wants them to just "throw the damn ball" over the plate and let the defense get the outs, not to worry about the K's.

There have been a few quotes from Cabrera about focusing on using his two-seamer almost exclusively. He mentions that it was a pitch he always had, but didn't use as often, and the new pitching coach has pushed him to use it. Looking at pitchfx data from 2007 and 2008 you can see that difference in his fastball and sinker composite totals as well.

no, it's Rick Kranitz, and he is working wonders for D-Cab, something that Mazzone was never able to do.

"He’s still a power pitcher, but it appears he’s (intentionally or not) taken something off of his fastball, and this reduced velocity correlates very well with lower walk rates."

Has it been proven that decreased velocity correlates with lower walk rates? Or is that just in this case?
