Nivra - That's why there are high mark-ups at the stadium merchandise stores. Also, selling merchandise is a core marketing strategy that helps build long term fans. Its good for the game as a whole and teams individually.

Thanks for the response.

So Central Revenue is shared equally, but Net Local Revenue is a part of Revenue Sharing (which is shared how?).

You didn't really address, and perhaps you don't know, the wholesale/retail pricing issue I asked about with respect to merchandising.

If merchandise is shared among all 30 teams equally, it makes little sense for teams to devote an enormous amount of real estate to Team Stores, yet they do. The only explanation I can see for that is that wholesale revenue for merchandise is shared, but retail revenue is of course, pocketed by the retailer. In the case of Team Stores, that's the team ownership.

All revenue derived from actual games played on the field is included in Net Local Revenue -- regular season ticket sales, concessions, parking, local TV revenue. This is reported to MLB and shared as part of Revenue Sharing.

Merchandise and national TV contracts, among other things, are part of Central Revenue. This money is administered by the Commissioner and shared equally by all teams.

Postseason tix revenue is dealt with as I've explained.
