Teixeira Is No Pujols

While I commend the team of Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi for thinking outside the box, I’d like to offer one simple image as to why the Cardinals should not swap Albert Pujols for Mark Teixeira.

One of these is not like the other. Teixeira is a nice player, but he’s not even close to Pujols. His best season is only better than Pujols’ worst season. In fact, Teixeira is one of the best arguments for why $30 milion a year for Pujols isn’t all that crazy. If Teixeira is worth $22.5 million per year, the difference in ability between the two is easily worth an extra $7.5 million per year.

As for the other suggestion?

That would be one of the worst trades in the history of sport.
