Profile: Ichiro, at 43 years old, is no longer a full-time contributor to the Marlins or to fantasy squads, but he provided a surprising amount of value for both in 2016. His BABIP rebounded from a career-low .257 to .329, driving a very solid .291 batting average and, incidentally, helping Ichiro cross the 3,000-hit plateau. Ichiro played in 143 games last year, but only collected 365 plate appearances, and though he's set to return to the Marlins this year he'll probably see even less time than that. Ichiro could be a marginal spot-start asset for AVG, particularly in NL-only leagues, but at this point you'd be better off appreciating his exceptional career than drafting him for your fantasy team. (Brice Russ)

The Quick Opinion: In 2023 or so, Ichiro will be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. In 2017, though, he's an empty bat with a few steals and probably half a season's worth of playing time. Ichiro may serve as an emergency spot start, in a pinch, but should not be an active part of your fantasy baseball strategy.
