Profile: Over the past decade, only five players who have accrued 2,000 plate appearances have a higher batting average on balls in play than Johnson. These five (Christian Yelich, Mike Trout, Starling Marte, Joey Votto, and Paul Goldschmidt) are much better than Johnson. Actually, much better doesn’t really put it in perspective, as Johnson’s 2.4 WAR over that time is 10-plus wins worse than the next-closest player. Which is to say that, while accruing a BABIP north of .350 in nearly 3,000 plate appearances is typically indicative of success, it isn’t always. Johnson is an afterthought in all fantasy formats… Unless of course BABIP is a category, in which case he could be a first-round pick. (Joe Douglas)

The Quick Opinion: Johnson used to be a fantasy asset. A full-time player whose production was buoyed by BABIPs north of .350. Going into 2017, he is no longer a fantasy asset, nor assured of playing time.
