RotoWire News: Wilson said Thursday that he's turning his primary focus toward race car driving and the auto dealership that he owns, but hasn't formally announced his retirement from professional baseball, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. "I don't know. If the situation was right, maybe," Wilson said, in reference to his future in baseball. "But right now I'm here at the dealership. The most attractive offer I had was to race this season." (2/10/2017)

Profile: C.J. Wilson is getting old. The two-time All-Star ended his 2015 season early with a controversial decision to undergo surgery for bone spur removal, then missed all of 2016 after undergoing shoulder surgery in the summer. Wilson, now a free agent, will probably be ready for 2017, but there's no guarantee he remains healthy -- and even before his injury, his already-iffy command was showing signs of worsening (with an 11.2% BB% in 2014) and his fastball was starting to slow down (from 91.7 MPH in 2012 to 90.3 in 2015). Shortly before press time, Wilson officially announced his retirement to pursue his life-long dream in auto racing. As such, he can safely be removed from fantasy consideration -- for fantasy baseball, at least. (Brice Russ)

The Quick Opinion: After a few years of injury and gradual decline, C.J. Wilson announced his retirement late in the offseason. Best wishes to Wilson with his second career in racing.
