Profile: Butler solidified his reputation as the league's softest "slugger" last year, when he hit just five home runs and lost a locker-room fight against the significantly smaller Danny Valencia. Oakland waived Butler — with a full year of his 3 year, $30 million deal still on the books — and he played in a few games for the Yankees before the season ended. Butler is strictly a designated hitter, he's entering his age-31 season, he's already a historically bad base runner, he last hit more than 15 homers in 2012, and he picks fights with his teammates over endorsement deals. He remains a free agent, and given his extremely limited skill set and questionable clubhouse demeanor, that's no surprise. (Scott Strandberg)

The Quick Opinion: If he ends up signing, expect him to do lots of Billy Butler things, like hit .275 with a bunch of doubles. For a player who is only eligible at first base, Butler is only relevant in very deep leagues even if he finds an everyday job, which seems highly unlikely.
