Profile: Descalso put up career power numbers in 2016, hitting eight homers in fewer than 300 plate appearances, good for a .160 isolated slugging percentage. While that prorates to 16 homers over a full season, a reasonable bounty from a middle infielder, we can't ignore the playing time constraints. Descalso has never amassed even 500 plate appearances in a single season, coming closest in 2012 with 426 as a member of the Cardinals. Descalso does some things well. He walks a lot but also strikes out just often enough to render his plate discipline unremarkable. The increase in power was nice to see, but in this new offensive environment, it's hardly a standout tool. His infield defense won't win him any playing time and, while advanced metrics liked him in the outfield, he lacks the power to justify a starting corner outfield spot. No reason to draft or roster Descalso in 2017. (Rylan Edwards)

The Quick Opinion: Descalso holds no real fantasy value in 2017. He's a part-time player with few standout tools.
