  1. I think you’re probably better off picking up someone like Madson who might get a handful of saves and likely will post better peripherals or Kuo who will help lower your ERA, WHIP and add K/9 than guessing which one of these clowns might get the call to blow..er..save the game.

  2. Aren’t we looking for closers?

they all looks more like openers or losers to me

  3. You cant spell closer without loser.

  4. I used both Heilman and Qualls recently and then decided to stash Mike Gonzalez instead. Alfredo Simon allows too many baserunners and a friend of a guy who posted on Razzball supposedly works for one of the Orioles farm teams and this guy claimed that Gonzalez was back in the mid 90s and looked good. It doesn’t take much to steer me away from the D-Backs “closers.”

  5. I totally agree. After owning Qualls, Heilman, and/or Gutierrez in various leagues, I’m tired of chasing what few saves may be available in Arizona at the expense of ERA and WHIP.

  6. I did call it a Hill of Turds elsewhere, but the saves obsession requires words be thrown at any closing situation…

  7. Agreed… And I think Qualls will eventually establish himself as the closer (unless he gets traded).
