  1. I miss the good ol’ days when the players cared about their keeper status on my team enough to take PEDs well into their late-30s.

Today’s players are just lazy, imo.

  2. I’m all over Furcal this year, he is the ultimate contract year guy. His last year with the Braves he put up 4.7WAR – he had never (and has never) surpassed 4WAR at any other point in his career… Also I remember in 2004 they were playing the Astros in the playoffs and he had a DUI sentencing that was postponed until after the playoffs were over. So literally the day after Atlanta was eliminated from the playoffs he would have to report to jail. Well they lost to Houston in 5 games but Furcal was 8-26 with 2HR’s, 4RBI’s and 3 steals (.381/.480/.762 line – SS I know but still). He also hit a walk-off HR in game 2 of that series. If he can play 140+ games this year, he’ll easily be a Top 5 fantasy Shortstop…

  3. 1) Furcal was 4.1 WAR last year.
    2) In 2006, his first year with the Dodgers, Furcal had a monster year with the bat. UZR crapped on him, but DRS had him as above average. Without the hit from UZR, his WAR would have been about equal.
    3) If Furcal gets in 600 PAs this year, his 2012 option vests at $12m.
