  1. He hit .254 on grounders last year and over .800 on liners. Every other year prior he hit under .200 on grounders, thus dropping his overall line. I feel as though the artificial turf in TB boosted that grounder average with some that scooted through that normally wouldn’t on grass. If I drafted him and he hit .270, I’d consider myself lucky. Last season is an extreme outlier and fool’s gold.

  2. Kotchman had eye surgery last off-season, so perhaps one can speculate that his pre-2011 performance track record is less relevant than it typically would be.
