  1. Opinions on Josh Johnson? Trade or hold?

  2. Don’t draft…

You can try to trade him but at this point who would want an injury prone guy who’s pitching worse than a half-dozen guys on the waiver wire?

  3. Short of turning back time and not drafting him, I’d say keep him. His BABIP is .436, that’s going to come down — though his 27 percent LD rate isn’t going to help matters much — and he’s not really walking anyone. His FIP and xFIP say he’s going to get better, I’m inclined to believe it, and he’s unlikely to lose much more value at this point unless he gets hurt again.

  4. At this point you’d be selling awfully low.

Telling stats: .436 BABIP and a 56%(!!) groundball rate. Secondly, out of the 41 hits he’s given up only 5 have gone for XBHs. Finally, he found his K-ball again, with 17 Ks coming in the past 13 innings. His FIP is 2.14 and his xFIP 2.86 are better than at any point in his career. I’d be looking to buy him, not sell.

  5. You have to be worried about Vance Worley’s swinging strike % (5.5). At that rate, there’s no way he’ll sustain a K/9 of around 9. Strikeouts will be falling

  6. I am fascinated by Worley. I am a Phil’s fan, and I have never seen so many called 3rd strikes. And these aren’t like questionable calls, the batters just don’t swing. So either he is doing something very odd that batters eventually figure out, or he keeps up this strange rate.

  7. I just looked it up, and Worley has the lowest swing percentage in baseball. But doesnt have an unusual zone%. I am curious the reasoning behind this. I am not sure, but it is interesting.

  8. I snagged Worley the second some idiot in our league let him go! Never been a believer in Bedard though, but Worley makes a nice addition to CJ, Matt Moore, Colby Lewis, and Daniel Hudson (pending his return)…didn’t take a pitcher until after round 8 in this draft!!! And added a few waiver wire early season hot streakers like Bass, Floyd and Pestano and 1st place is around the corner!!!
