  1. Who do you like more between Carpenter vs CIN today and Floyd @ CLE tomorrow? H2H points league…I have a slim lead in the finals, and need to pick up 1 starter to reach the matchup start limit. Just want the one who is more likely to have a good start. I could pick up Huff or Hefner instead, but I think I prefer Carpenter or Floyd. Thanks!

  2. I hate to say it but Floyd: CLE really isn’t a potent offense in any way whereas CIN could put up some crooked numbers against anyone.

  3. I’m with Scott here — both in saying Floyd and the knot in my stomach that develops thinking about putting your trust in him at this point in the season.

  4. The Reds offense has been unreasonably bad of late, while the Indians have not, and they thrive against right handed pitchers.

    Last 14 days:
    Reds – 63 wRC+
    Indians – 123 wRC+

Don’t like small sample sizes? How about 30 days?
    Reds – 69 wRC+
    Indians – 102 wRC+

Mix in the fact that the White Sox have nothing to play for and the Cardinals have everything to play for, and I’d feel more comfortable with Carp on the mound.

  5. haha, thanks. Hopefully I wont even NEED that final start, but Felix & Cain didnt do me any favors last night. My lead is far less than it was 2 days ago!

Also trying to convince myself that Floyd could be looking for a new contract, and he’ll be moticated to get a 12th win (getting his record over .500) and get his ERA below last season’s mark (to avoid looking like he’s progressing in the wrong direction).

  6. This is an excellent point, although I wonder how much the Indians #s are skewed by their two 15 run outbursts in the last week+. Or maybe the two 15 run outbursts themselves should give me pause. A big Floyd blowup would be very very bad for me.

  7. What are everyone’s thoughts on griffin tomorrow? I need the win badly. Anyone think they keep him in for at least 5 if there is nothing to play for?
