  1. Turning 30 is not over 30… COUGH.

  2. 30.01 is over 30

  3. Speaking as a Cardinals’ fan… I don’t really see how they had a “claim” on being in the postseason. Every other team save Detroit had 93 or more wins to the Cardinals’ 87, and even Detroit had more (88) and won a division. One of these things is not like the other.

Of course, the upshot here is that I’m eager to get the chance to say that MLB changed the rules so that the NL could have a repeat champion for the first time in almost 40 years =P

  4. *others

Also, I can already say that MLB changed the rules so that the Cardinals could yank the rug out from under the Braves again.

  5. Not one of these was “bold”. Maybe the LaHair one, but the rest were bad.

  6. Agreed-if you look at these vs. the other bold predictions there’s no comparison. Really-a team that hasn’t finished over .500 for 19 seasons is going to fail again? Bold in July-in April not so much.

  9. I don’t think you can really claim credit for the new wildcard format prediction. In the AL, the two exciting races came down to the last games of the season, but were division races in the AL West and AL East. The wildcard game would have just been a game 163 as the Rangers and Orioles finished with identical records. So no difference in the results. In the NL the only result was to let an 87-win team in a weak division sneak into the real playoffs over a more deserving 93-win team.

  10. these may have been the least “bold” of any of the predictions!

    - Denard Span will hit .280 with 15 steals!! Be still my heart!!!

    - the Pirates will finish below .500? OUT ON A LIMB!!

    - and MikeEL covered the wild card thing above…

  11. Tough crowd. You can’t even make a bold prediction around here without getting shat on.

  12. Point is-they weren’t very bold. I very much enjoy the series, but don’t really expect anyone to get more than 2 or 3 of theirs right. Dan could’ve easily scored on 7 or 8 of his and it wouldn’t have been all that surprising. On at least 5 of ‘em the other side would’ve been bolder.

  13. Age is typically expressed as an element of the integers given by the floor function of the actual age, so floor(30.01) is still not over 30.
