  1. I play in an OBP league, and I’ve really come to appreciate players who walk an average amount, verses walking at .120 or .150. The reason is that when a player walks, he is robbed/robs himself of a chance to get a hit or hit for extra bases or drive in runs.

    So Pedroia’s drop in walk rate, down to more of a league average, is a welcome sight to me.

  2. Swinging at balls is also a good way to not get a hit or hit for extra bases or drive in runs. Swinging at good pitches to hit is a way to keep your BABIP up.
