Daily Fantasy Strategy – 9/28 – For Draftstreet

Posted By Blake Murphy On September 28, 2013 @ 10:15 am In Daily Fantasy Update | 6 Comments

As the season wraps up, there isn’t much to do but look back. With that in mind, I pulled all of the player data and converted it into total DraftStreet points for the year.

Ideally, we’d have average price or purchase history to compare it to, but we don’t. The best we can do is look at the leaders and if anyone sticks out to you as a surprise, we can discuss in the comments.

Juan Nicasio – $5,396
Nicasio has been far better this season than his ERA would indicate, and I actually think he’s a strong breakout candidate for 2014. That said, he has struggled with fatigue a bit down the stretch. On Saturday, he’ll draw a Dodgers team likely to bench many key players since they have essentially nothing to play for. Plus, that price!

Jimmy Nelson – $6,995
Yeah, let’s dial this up and then spend big on hitters or a third starter. Nelson isn’t well known but has really improved in the minors this year, striking out well over a batter an inning across two levels. Nelson will be making his first major league start (he’s allowed zero runs in five relief innings) and, of course, the Mets are a friendly opponent.

Asdrubal Cabrera – $6,255
You know who sucks? Cole Devries. It’s especially helpful that the Indians have something to play for and as such should trot out a real major league lineup. Why Cabrera? Chasing bad money with good money, of course (he’s also been decent in September and above-average against righties).

Wil Myers – $7,149
You know who else kind of sucks? J.A. Happ. Well, maybe not sucks, but he certainly hasn’t been sharp. Like the Indians, the Rays have something to play for and should play a real lineup. Wil Myers got Friday off and as such should be good to go for Saturday and with the season on the line, #TheWilToWin will come through.

Curtis Granderson – $6,996
Paul Clemens is pretty bad, too! All of these terrific September starters to pick on. Too bad the Yankees’ lineup could be unpredictable, though they may play a full squad to try and help Andy Pettitte go out with a win. We’ll grab Granderson, mostly because he’s a lefty and we’re pretty sure he’ll play.
