Saw Cappy’s last game vs Col., the Mets’ defense is what really screwed him over. He pitched much much better than the numbers said. Emaus was a deer in the headlights on D that day, messed up 2 DP’s, and Hairston, Pagan, and Harris all had OF blunders that went as hits on the scorecard.

Because unless you think a 21.4% HR/FB rate is Capuano’s true capuability, FIP is useless. xFIP would be a better representation of how well he’s pitched (which is at 3.72) since it’s based on a normalized HR/FB rate, especially given the evidence that he’s missing bats and his stuff hasn’t left him.

Roberts is probably already owned in NL-only leagues – those leagues really drain the player pool. But he’s not a bad rent-and-see option for mixed-league players – Gibson is going to give him a shot, and there’s power and speed here.
