Agreed on the changeup. He was nearly unhittable when he was mixing in the changeup more often. He actually carried a no-hitter through five innings in three of his first 12 starts. That’s amazing.

Agreed, great piece. Totally needs to throw his *excellent* change more often and the slider much less. He hits 97-98 with that live FB. He was hurt by his inexperience too, blowing up after great beginnings in several games. I think he had a no-hitter through 5 or 6 against the Indians then gave up 3 HRs in a row, e.g.

Great post David. I’m very high on young Johnny Cueto. Reds fans have a lot to look forward to with Johnny Cueto and Edinson Volquez locked up for many years.
