If Kendrick's fly ball rate is higher due to being an Angel, then wouldn't all Angel's hitters be that way?

Why is Kendrick the outlier?

Dave: As a fellow Duquesne graduate, tell your editors how to spell your university's name correctly! I actually cut Kendrick free in one of my keeper fantasy leagues while keeping him in another. I think his health is the biggest factor regarding his future. Keep up the good work.

Great post! Now that you point it out, it makes sense that there would be a measurable difference in the flyball/linedrive rates between ballparks. The difference between some flyballs and line drives is often fine. It will be nice when and if MLBAM can provide HIT F/X data and this subjectivitity can be removed. .

This is exactly the kind of thing I was thinking of when I wrote the article. I wanted to discourage the use of LD% to predict BABIP in favor of just using that player's historical BABIP. Kendrick has always had extremely high rates, MLEs of 341, 374, 354 in the minors 2003-2005, and 346, 366, 362 in the majors 2006-2008.

Great follow up to the Kendrick article this morning, this just tickles the ivy on the amount of changes possible to predicting future BABIP...

Thanks again
