Or, it could be a very small sample of 60 PAs. I bet even Ozzie Guillen and his third-worst Career wRAA looked good in a string of 60 PAs. My money's on Jeffery posting something close to his .314 wOBA over the long haul. He's a hack.

Brian, it could be that he has tweaked his hitting approach including batting stance. Supposedly he was given pointers about the way he plants his foot, the way his right hand grips the bat, and Warthen has even showed him the Mets' scouting report on him. He mentioned he's gotten good advice from both Wright and Sheffield, two big righty bats similar to himself that he said were missing on the Braves. And HoJo has also been working with him.

Or it could be a simple change of scenery. It's like clearing your head and starting over.

I don't think he'll stay this hot. But I think he'll be better than what he's shown last year and earlier this year when he was with Atlanta.

Hi dovif thanks for reading and commenting!

2005 was not a full season, he posted that .341 BABIP in 247 ABs.

I certainly hope that a MLB player does not find the game too easy. Especially one that had to be sent to the minors because he was stinking up the joint and then proceeded to get worse.

I can't speak for the pressures that Francoeur did or did not feel in Atlanta. But I do think if what you say is true that he becomes of the few athletes in history to feel less pressure moving to New York.

So your argument is that because in 2 of his 4 full years he had a .341 and .340 BABIP, therefore his BABIP for the Mets of .333 is unsustainable?

In relation to your argument about scouts, your argument is that when Francoeur got traded from the Braves to the Mets, suddenly all the scouts lost their scouting notes on Francoeur for the last 4 years and start throwing him Curveballs and Changeup ....but because he is a Mets now, they will stop now?

Have you considered maybe for whatever reason, Francoeur lost his passion for baseball as a Brave, maybe it was too much pressure, maybe he and Cox did not get along, maybe he did not like the city. Maybe he through the game was too easy and needed a wake up call, like being traded for a 4th OF like Church?

Maybe now that he is playing for the Mets, he has less pressure, he is relaxing more and is now doing the things he had done his first 2 years. Unless you think he was washed up at 26

If they showed OBP on the scoreboard at Citi, it would show that as a Met Francoeur's OBP is a respectable .350. If they showed situational stats, it would show that as a Met he is hitting a hefty .381 with RISP.

OK, sure, he's hot right now and he is unlikely to sustain this production for very long. But who cares other than fantasy owners? As a Mets fan, all I know is that he has solidified the middle of the Mets batting order and helped to energize the offense, something I doubt Church would have done had he still been a Met. Pagan and a stable lineup are also factors for this revival, but many think Francoeur is the biggest reason. If he sustains this hot streak for another few weeks at least, then that might be long enough for the Mets to get back into the wild card race. Then he can turn back into being a frog or a semi-frog. Because by that time, they might have back a few of their regulars from the disabled list to carry the baton.

At any rate, Mets fans are enjoying what Francoeur has brought to the club. Because not only is his bat lively, but so is his personality. This fits in well with NY, and Church was definitely much more reserved.

Thank you very much Mr. Joura. This will help convince my Met friends that Jeff Francoeur is just lucky right now.
