According to UZR/150, he was league average in 2008 when he was hobbled and out-of-shape. While the sample sizes are extra-ordinarily small, he has excelled in LF and RF so far this year. I'm willing to bet some money that he could still be an above-average CF if given the chance. No reason his defense can't show the same kind of rebound as his offense, and he was a ridiculously good CF from 2002-2007. Even if he's slowed a step, his instincts, jumps, and routes should keep him above average. Rangers might as well try to maximize his value.
