If he has lost 2 MPH on the fastball, it is actually a good thing that he has lost 4 MPH on the change. He might want to think about using that pitch more often.

The Angels said something about the bullpen at first, and I bet that will be his October role, but he’s starting Wednesday, and my guess at his schedule is looking correct. Enjoy those first two or three starts, Kazmir owners. We’ll see about the last three.

Last year Kazmir depended mostly on his fastball because of his elbow injury. He was reluctant to throw his slider. This year he is relying on the slider more, most likely because of the lost velocity on his fastball.

Imagine how much Omar Minaya would have paid to extend Kazmir if he gave 3/33 to Ollie Perez…After all, Omar basically had exclusive negotiating rights with Perez since nobody else thought he was worth half the paycheck he’s gotten.
