I look at Bill James’ 2010 predictions and can’t help but wonder if maybe the Birds should give MelMo a flier as a utility player. I am wary of going out after a Figgins or a Beltre after looking at Bell’s AFL numbers. If Bell is going to be there for a cup of joe in September ’10, why sign a guy that is going to command millions more AND a long-term deal?

Despite the blow-up between he and Trembley (who likely won’t be in Baltimore after 2010 either), he has been a great guy in the community and has been one of the few post-Ripken constants in the clubhouse. Christ, outside of MelMo, has anyone on the ’09 O’s even MET the Iron Man?

if he wants to stay in Baltimore, take a paycut, not like he needs the money. I know he’s got quintuplets, but i think he’s gotten enough money to be more than fine. Seems fairly simple to me.
