Eno,

Thanks a ton for the advice and the timely response (this man turned it around in less than 24 hours!). Yet another reason I love this site.

As for the deal, it's speculative on Upton becoming the superstar we all expect that he has the talent to. So in that respect I see it like Joe. It would probably have been relevant to include that I'm second in the league in steals by a fairly comfortable margin.

Thanks again.

I pull the trigger on the Zimmerman/Upton/Sizemore deal in a heartbeat. I realize steals may take a hit, but next year, you'll be referring to him as a 3rd rock-solid keeper.

I did see his projected RoS FIP, and it's probably on the basis of a regression to the mean in his BABIP (.370 currently) and strand rate (around 58% currently). Unfortunately, his BABIP and strand rate have not been stellar for his career, either (.326 and 63%, respectively). When you've got stuff like he has, sometimes all the rules don't apply cleanly. Consider that ZiPs still projects him to put up a 4.50 ERA for the rest of the year, even with his better BABIP and strand rate and the Ray's good D. Throw in his poor divisional matchups, and I'm still not seeing much to like.

Here's one where I wonder whether or not I trust ZIPS. A pitch to contact guy in front of a great defense is nice, but his divisional games matter to me. Do you trust him against the Yankees and Red Sox? I know I don't, and that means he maxes out as a situational spot starter, and even there, I'd roll the dice with a higher K-rate guy, esp. so with that as a stat in most leagues. I agree with the writer here on Sonnastine.

FYI, ZIPS projects Sonnastine to have a 4.16 FIP the rest of the season. With the Rays excellent defense, his ERA could be well under 4 the rest of the way.
