The same question occurs to me for 2 of the guys named above...Why start the service clock? Both Tilman and Latos are obvious candidates for extended minor league play due service time. I suspect both will be called up and inserted into the rotation for extended rosters, but otherwise why risk boosting a player's future bargaining position during a lost season? I suppose it would be a function of whether or not exciting young rookies would boost revenues enough this year and next to make up for potentially higher future contracts.

About the O's:

Koji has pitched above average, but I wouldn't say well. He's more of a bullpen arm, and it shows in all of his starts. He normally goes 4 strong innings and then just absolutely unravels in the 5th and 6th before he gets pulled. The O's should move Koji to the bullpen (once he's off the DL) and promote Tillman (thus meaning they must then cut someone, or move David Hernandez back to AAA - I'd prefer that they cut Hendrickson). However, if they don't promote Tillman, they will probably be just fine because David Hernandez is a serviceable option at this time. The O's don't want to derail Tillman's progress, and the O's have been very cautious with their star-studded pitching prospects.

Not necessarily a fantasy related question, but is there any reason that Kam Mickolio is not playing in the majors right now?
