Latos should stay up. The major concern for fantasy owners is how many innings he’ll pitch and if he’ll stick in games long enough to get a W. There’s also a good chance he’ll be shut down toward the end of the season.

The Padres are concerned about his innings total as he has only pitched as many as 55 innings in a season. Reports said that 75 pitches would be his limit, but the Pads stretched him out to 92 in his last start, so perhaps they’re straying from their original line.

What makes you think his production will drop? Contusions normally don’t foreshadow decreased production.

Give him a few days, and his bruises will heal. He’ll be 100% in no more than a week I’m sure.

Guttierrez just hit the wall, literally!
He probable will not go the the DL but still I will be surprised if his production didn’t drop over the next week. I waiver him and picked up Seth Smith.

Both Oswalt and Adam LaRoche have a lot of data in their careers which point to them doing better in the second halves of seasons. I normally figure those data are meaningless, but when the sample size gets to be that large, it bears watching.

Overally, I think you’re selling LaRoche a bit short. He’d be a huge upgrade for the Mets, for example, though the horses may already be out of the barn this season for that team. Used correctly, he could help many teams. He’s a career .275/.347/.500 hitter against RHP, and has hit .296/.357/.544 (1180 PA) in the 2nd halves of seasons in his career. And Pittsburgh is not a hitter-friendly park (B-R’s multi-year factor is 95).

The Red Sox (and many other teams) often struggle the first few times they see a young pitcher. I don’t see Anderson duplicating that performance next time out against the Sox
