Definitely a reasonable option for dollar days or the last rounds of a draft. Perhaps even a watch in 12 team leagues as a draft pick may not be necessary (obviously that would only apply to active owners). It’s a shame they signed Valverde (which makes little to no sense to me) as I always thought Bonderman’s fastball-slider combo would play up a ton in the bullpen, and it could help him stay healthy perhaps. That said, given his K-rate throughout his career, and his ability to limit the walks he’ll always be on my radar as long as he is healthy. Just gonna throw another name out there, Rich Hill. Sounds like he won’t be returning to Baltimore, and pitching in any other division would bump his value. I really feel like the Cubs ran him into the ground, and if I’m not mistaken he had surgery on his shoulder in the off-season. If he’s healthy, given his ability to rack up K’s, he’d seem to be a guy to keep an eye on as well.

If I’m a Tiger’s fan I’m more concerned defensively about the loss of Polanco, who was a +11 UZR/150 last year, the third time in five years he broke double digits. His likely replacement, Sizemore, does not have a good defensive reputation — he’s getting to the majors based on solid production at the plate. Sizemore and Cabrera make for a weak right side of the infield defensively.

Jackson is a strong athlete but his TotalZone ratings have been all over the place and more often bad then good. I hope for selfish reasons he plays well because he’s on my roto team reserve along with Desmond Jennings in my AL only league

don’t see it. not only has the dude’s arm practically exploded for three straight years; his fastball & slider velo has dropped three mph each. both have been negative run value. 185 innings? really? if any projection is closer to bonderman’s potential, it’s CHONE.

not to mention the tigers have had a miserable time keeping pitchers both healthy & effective; zumaya, roberston, and the topic of the discussion.

Jackson has received some good reviews defensively. He may not be Granderson in CF but the scouting reports indicate that he’s a good fielder. It will be interesting to see how UZR treats him.

I’m not sure it’s appropriate to use the Tigers’ defensive rating from last year. They’ve lost Polanco and Granderson and the Tigers were below average defensively without them. Perhaps their replacements (Sizemore and Jackson) will field well but Polanco especially was a great fielder. Also, Gerald Laird, whos a good defensive catcher, may lose playing time this year because of his bat to a player, Avila, whose defense is less of a known quantity.

Bonderman is still a reasonable sleeper pick but it remains to be seen if he will be helped or hindered by his team defense.
