Not cutting - trading.

You can't assume a player in the majors will regress to his minor league numbers. The caliber of play is so much better in the majors. There's an old fantasy saying - nothing disappoints like young pitchers. Somebody, maybe Shandler, once said words to the effect of: Greg Maddux was 6-14 with a 5.61 ERA in his first full year in the majors. How much better is Pitcher X than Greg Maddux?

As for Hanson, his FIP is 1.52 runs higher than his ERA and his HR rate is below average, so his xFIP would be even worse. RoS ZiPS shows him with a 5.33 ERA so I'm not sure how any "statistics-focused owners" would view his stock as lower right now than it would be later in the year.

Interesting you would recommend cutting Hanson because of his peripherals despite the fact that he is a rookie coming off of amazing credentials at AAA. From a regression toward the mean perspective, wouldn't you expect Hanson to begin getting a handle on things and turn it around in the majors.

Given the poor peripherals, I'd say that Hanson's stock is lower right now than it will be at the end of the season (at least with any statistics-focused owners).

hmm... I'd lea slightly towards yes. For this season alone, absolutely, Teixeira will be better. If you're in contention to win this year, I'd go for it. If your team is out of it, I might keep Longoria because he's nearly as good, younger, and plays a position that's slightly more difficult to fill in the future.

Yes. Absolutely. Check Teixeira's career splits for his post-ASB numbers. Also look at his projections vs. Longoria. If it's straight up, definitely do it. Particularly if you can use Sandoval or Youkilis at 3B next year.

I'm in a 12 team keeper league (10 keepers per year) I've got Youkilis/Sandoval at 1B/Util. The owner of Teixeira has indicated he might be willing to swap him for Longoria.....should I jump at that and move Sandoval or Youkilis to 3B?

Thanks. Our league only does raw statistics (no averages, just 2B, 3B, HR, Ks, BBs, GIDPs, SBs, CSs, etc.). It's heavily weighted toward power hitting and pitching Ks, wins and saves.

Any opinion on Branyan in the second half? At 30+, it's strange to have someone who's such an unknown commodity over a full year.

You'd lose quite a few steals from Kinsler and Uggla will be a major drain on your BA or OBP (whichever you use). I've tried to trade Uggla in one of my leagues but haven't had any takers, even from really power starved teams. Had he and Davis on there for a while and my OBP was pathetic.

Fantasy Help re Longoria? 12-team, mixed league. I have Kinsler at 2B, Branyan at 3B, and Uggla on the bench (someone inexplicably dropped him for Jose Lopez). Another guy has both A-Rod and Longoria, and has hinted he'd do Kinsler-Longoria. Is it an improvement for me to insert Uggla for Kinsler, and Longoria for Branyan?

Thanks.

If Morales was available, I'd see if someone would bite on that, the selling point some of the things Sarris mentions in his article recently posted.

I need a 1B and a backup 2B or 3B. There's no one out there that I could trade for - either they're low OBP, low walk type players who I don't want, or on the other hand, several guys that are way too good and would be impossible to get using Romero.

I just wanted to trade Romero and Burrell was the best I could get.

Is it worth it?
