Andrew McCutchen has an mlb average bat for cf, with great speed and defense. He will stick there for a while.

Steve Pearce is still the 2nd best bat on the current Pirates roster (I know, that's sad). He needs to be starting, if not at 1b then in rf where he is passable defense. Brandon Moss can spell him against some rhp. He can go back to 1b if LaRoche is traded, where Dan Fox's SFR (thru 2007) showed him as having a very good glove.

I don't project Garret Jones very highly, but his 2008 and 2009 AAA stats have been better than previous years. Let him play lf until he shows he can't. Delwyn Young can play there vs lhp and backup Freddy Sanchez at 2b.

Yes, the Pirates' outfield needs more work, but Ryan Doumit is the only position player who hits better than mlb average for his position. There's a long way to go for the whole roster.

That was a lazy thing to say, you got me. A more correct thing to say is that his best slugging performances of his career have occurred in a hitter's park and should therefore be discounted somewhat. Of course you'd have to take the 10% off of only his home games, but the PCL is a hitter's league as well. Clay Davenport would do a much better job finding the 'true' translation of his stats.

When you say that if you compensate for the 10% park advantage, are you shaving that number off of his overall numbers or just his home games?
