MASH Report (5/1/14)

Today’s edition is really short. I was working on a detailed analysis to see how Kershaw may produced with a fastball around the 89 to 91 mph range. Basically I ran out of time. So I will finish up the analysis later tonight and write it up and we will run it tomorrow.  But the short answer is …. he looks like he will be fine.

Clayton Kershaw‘s average velocity in his last minor league start was around 90 mph

With him expected to start Monday, how will the loss of velocity effect him? Wait until tomorrow for the details, but he should be fine.

Bryce Harper should return some point around the All-Star game.

Juan Lagares plans to join the Mets tonight.

Kevin Kouzmanoff may need more back surgery. The back surgery should be no surprise because of his history of back issues and how backs just destroy a player’s production and keep showing up.

Scott Feldman may join the Astros this weekend.

Mike Minor expects to start tomorrow.

Hisashi Iwakuma will start for the Mariners tomorrow. One time his owners should check is the breaking action on his split finger. Since he is coming back from an injured middle finger, his movement may be affected.

Know anything about Kipnis and Braun?

This week, on my 25-man roster, I’ve had Kipnis, Braun, Aramis, Rosario, Trumbo, Cingrani, Latos, and Hanley. Not to mention Kemp and Papi, who need their two days of rest per week! Hurrah!

It looks like both teams are going day-to-day with them, with decision looming quickly. I would just hold out as long as you can until you make a decision and see if the teams make a call.

If I were to guess, I would say Kipnis to the DL and Braun hangs around.

Still curious what you think about Salazar’s potential injury indicators (not just velo, but definitely that, too). Not sure you’d tell me the truth, though, since I have him in our league!

Just drop him, he should stay safe on the waiver wire ;)

Truthfully, his Zone% has dropped from 52% to 44% to go along with the velocity drop. Less strikes and less speed. not a good combo.
