Paul Sporer Rotographs Chat – 5/26/16

The transcript:

2:00
Paul Sporer: We’ll get going very soon.

2:03
Saul: Give me some hope on Buxton and Bregman; I have them stashed in AL only, are both up within the next couple weeks?

2:04
Paul Sporer: Not really sure when they will be up, but they’re super-young, super-talented players. Gotta be patient.

2:04
Rich: my Price ($45) / Abreu($35)/ JP Crawford($2) for his Carassco($10)/ McCullers($10)/ Piscotty ($5) …. 14 team 5×5 , 10 keepers with annual $5 inflation/ $300 budget. Competing this year 4th place so far, need to fix my pitching ratios and top 5 in all O, but also trying to get some cheaper talent as we didn’t have a lot of $ at the draft this year. Still have Cueto(15)/Salazar(10)/Chen(17)/Estrada(2)/Conley(1)/Wright(5) & E5(26)/ Altuve(26) /Donaldson(20) /Villar(10) /Cruz(25) /Park(12)/Parra(14)/Saunders(5)/Inciarte(10) /Bregman(5) –good return?

2:04
Paul Sporer: That’s definitely fair. Plus if you don’t quite win this year, you have keepable options

2:05
fromSleeper2Bust: currently rostering Will Harris & Neris to complement my Ramos, Chapman, Rondon pen in roto. Any better SU guys you’d recommend.

2:05
JEFF: do you hear any rumors that Tetsuto Yamada may be posted and come over to majors

2:05
Paul Sporer: I don’t, sorry

2:05
Colin: rank the stashes: dahl, brinson, bell

2:06
Paul Sporer: Bell, Dahl, Brinson

2:06
Adam: Can only hang on to 1 underperformer, J-Up or Prince? Head to head points league

2:06
Paul Sporer: J Up. I’m worried Prince is hurt

2:06
yojiveself: Hi Paul – Weiters is starting to come around. Roll with him or go with Gattis at C once he becomes eligible?

2:06
Paul Sporer: I prefer Wieters personally

2:07
forever it: Weekly 18-team dynasty league, who would you bench of these two-start options next week? Buchholz (vs. Tor, @Bal), Gee (vs. TB, @Cle), Guerra (vs. Stl, at Phi) or Straily (vs. Was, @Col)? Leaning Straily with those matchups but Buchholz and Gee have been awful

2:07
Paul Sporer: Ya I’d never start Buchholz. Gee is pretty bad, too. Guerra is worth a start and I might gamble on Straily even with a trip to COL bc of your league depth

2:07
Don: Adrian Gonzalez is hitting 50%+ grounders. What do you see ROS? Steamer says .270, 16 HR. Is he even worth holding in 10 team mixed?

2:08
Paul Sporer: I feel like he’s at least a CI in 10-teamers, so I’d hold

2:08
Mark: What’s happening with Adam Conley lately? Is he still a guy to own?

2:09
Paul Sporer: Ebbs and flows of a youngster. I still like him in a lot of formats

2:09
Rags: Points league with a slight emphasis on XBH and RBIs. Was offered Billy Burns for Brandon Crawford. Is that enough or should I ask for more? I have Kang and Jose Ramirez at SS right now.

2:09
Paul Sporer: Meh. If you need the speed. I like Crawford

2:09
yojiveself: Danny Valencia was hot-hot-hot until I put him in my lineup. were the 6 hr’s a mirage?

2:10
Paul Sporer: Ya I mean it was a burst. No way it was going to last. I’ve been wrong on him, but I’m still skeptical even though I’m more open to him being good. I don’t rule out a Colabello effect, either. Which sucks to have to say, but being naive is tired

2:10
AJ: Some days ago you said Fielder and Dozier were droppers (Also had Heyward and Upton… yeah I know) Ended up trading Fielder for Gio Gonzalez (I know he is not this good) and dropping Dozier for Matt Adams, how did I do?

2:10
Paul Sporer: Pretty well!

2:10
Rags: DH Lee or BH Kim for last spot on my bench in a points league?

2:10
Paul Sporer: Park

2:11
brett: do you think will we see either Bradley Zimmer or Clint Frazier in the bigs this year? thanks.

2:11
Paul Sporer: Probably not, but I’m really bad at guessing prospect call-ups (hint: everyone is)

2:12
Dave: All else being equal, what type of player do you prefer for a bench spot in roto: (A) a player who provides value in different categories than your starter (e.g., SBs vs. HRs) so can give those categories a boost on starter’s off days; or (B) a player who provides the same profile as the starter (but, obviously, less so), who could then step in in case of injury without significantly changing how the team is constructed?

2:12
Paul Sporer: More A bc that seems to lean toward best available

2:12
Teddy: What do you think the plan is for Alex Reyes?

2:13
Paul Sporer: Later summer call up at earliest

2:13
Otis: Would you trade Yasiel Puig 19$ for Aaron Nola 4$ in ottoneu?

2:13
Paul Sporer: Sure, that’s fair

2:13
Szey: Altuve + Gerritt or Goldschmidt + Rendon. Which side?

2:14
Paul Sporer: side A, but it’s doable on both sides

2:14
Zorak: How much FAAB are you willing to blow on Urias? I’m in the hunt and worried he might be a wasted roster spot later in the season if he isn’t starting. Keep-6 12tm h2h points. Thanks!

2:15
Paul Sporer: There’s a chance he’s insane, but even then for how many innings? He’s never topped 88 IP as a pro. I’d say 10-12%. Pretty conservative, but I’m fine if I don’t get him. He’s not top 72 next yr anyway

2:15
Nate: 12 team mixed, how much longer do I hold on to Kuechel?

2:15
Paul Sporer: until a better option comes around? should have some trade equity in the market. just sell low since you’re considering a drop

2:16
Sam: Hey Paul, I love the podcast with Eno and Jason. What do you think about Adam Eaton ROS? Fantasy-wise, he’s not blowing anyone away yet, but do you figure the runs scored will start to rise?

2:17
Paul Sporer: Thanks! He’s been solid. The offense has cooled and with it his Rs are down. I think they will heat up again, espec. when Abreu gets going

2:17
brett: thoughts on Hyun-Soo Kim? it looks like he might get more ABs in the near future. He is my Duda replacement in a 20 team league.

2:17
Paul Sporer: that’s viable

2:17
Minty: Who is more likely to turn it around, Upton or Heyward? At least for this year, I’m losing faith and I’m ready to drop soon.

2:17
Paul Sporer: Upton. Heyward has the wrist that we just don’t know how much it’s ailing him

2:18
David: Wil Myers for Justin Upton? Acceptable?

2:18
Paul Sporer: Sure. I’m a Myers fan

2:18
Nothebs: Liriano a buy low? Peripherals are pretty rough.

2:19
Paul Sporer: It’s admittedly ugly on the whole, but v good in 4 of last 5 outside of that Cubs thrashing. I like a buy low here

2:20
Adam: Had been platooning 1B with Duda, Moss, and Moreland (Playing Duda most often and others when facing bad righties). Any sneaky 1B recommendations to target on waivers or by trade to take Duda’s spot?

2:20
Paul Sporer: Pearce, Jaso, Smoak

2:20
Rich: Is Chen an every week starter or need to pick his spots?

2:20
Paul Sporer: Depends how deep of a lg

2:20
Sam: Do I start Tyler Chatwood in his next start at home against the Giants? Is he anything more than a road streamer this season, or are you seeing anything more?

2:21
Paul Sporer: I stopped after “at home” bc I think we know the answer with Rockies. There will be some good starts, but picking them will be near impossible

2:21
Snowflake: Josh Bell = James Loney

2:22
Paul Sporer: Loney had a 112 OPS+ for his first 4 seasons. Only had one truly BAD season

2:22
Oliver : Are Conforto/Mazara/Joc/shaw/lamb all too much of the same player to own all of them in h2h OBP league? Should I look to move one or both of Shaw/Lamb?

2:23
Paul Sporer: I see the similarity obviously, but they aren’t on the same team, so they’re unlikely to all be facing lefties on the same day

2:23
Mr. Plow, that’s my name: What exactly is a “Sporer”? Is it literally “one who spores”? Does that mean your anscestors were mushrooms?

2:23
Paul Sporer: ha!

2:23
Oliver : Panik or Dozier ROS h2h OBP? What do I do with Dozier??

2:23
Paul Sporer: Panik. See if he has any trade value, otherwise you can move on for now

2:23
Oliver : In a 10 player keep for ever league is Berrios not worth holding on to? Or should I wait to see how stint #2 goes?

2:23
Paul Sporer: If you don’t need the spot, hold him, but obviously he becomes someone to move on from if you find yourself in a roster crunch

2:23
A Different Matt: Aledmys Diaz or Devon Travis ROS at 2B?

2:24
Paul Sporer: Travis

2:24
Adam: Best guess as to when we see Brantley back on the field?

2:24
Paul Sporer: Supposed to be a near-minimum DL stint, no?

2:24
Jackson: whodo you like for 2017+ …Mazara or Conforto?

2:24
Paul Sporer: Honestly don’t have much split between em. I’ll lean Maz slightly

2:25
Paul Sporer: Two v good hitters

2:25
Carlos: Trayce Thompson or Leonys Martin in OBP format. Who would you rather have for the rest of the season?

2:25
Paul Sporer: Martin has the bead on more PT so I lean there, plus the speed

2:26
Daniel: Where does Devon Travis rank among 2B? I have LaMahieu and have been happy with him, but Travis is stuck on my DL

2:26
Paul Sporer: I don’t think Travis has much more upside than DJLM

2:26
the butcher: What is the prognostication for Devon Travis r.o.s?

2:27
Paul Sporer: OK, this will be the last Travis question. He’s the player of the day it seems. He’s largely overrated in the market. Shoulder injuries have me questioning what the power will be like anyway. The lineup isn’t that good right now so it’s not automatically gonna float him. He’s a fine mid-tier 2B option, but I think a lot of folks who held him are expecting BIG things and I don’t see that

2:27
Rich: Start Estrada (vNYY, @BOS) or is that BOS start gonna kill my ratios!

2:29
Paul Sporer: Really trying to avoid BOS… espec AT BOS, but Estrada has been really good again

2:29
Paul Sporer: So I think I’d go for it

2:29
Gest: Do you see any reason for concern on Carlos Martinez other than his bad results?

2:31
Paul Sporer: No, not necessarily. Always worry about health bc he’s had some issues, but nothing jumps out. Prob a solid buy-lower… i don’t think the discount will be THAT steep, but it’ll be cheaper than opening day

2:32
Bart: Need pitching, is a Harper for Mazara and Jose Fernandez a fair deal?

2:32
Paul Sporer: Yeah, I think that’s fair. I hate to deal Harper, but you gotta improve that SP

2:32
Brian: If Glasnow and Taillon are available which one would you stash.

2:32
Paul Sporer: Tai

2:32
Snowflake: Where would you rank Piscotty among OFs?

2:34
Paul Sporer: Not sure off the top of my head, but I love that guy. I wanna say top 25 without fully doing my ranking

2:34
Timo P: Hi, Paul. 5×5 plus obp & tb. Please rank Martin, Grandal, D’Arnaud (when he’s back).

2:35
Paul Sporer: I think you just did. I wanna say we ranked these very Cs recently and that was my ranking

2:35
Gest: What if I want to trade Darvish now when he’s at his most intriguing, but I also have him at $1 in a keeper? How good of a value do you expect him to be in 2017 (pts league)

2:36
Paul Sporer: I mean he could obv be a great value next year, but it’s not guaranteed. Look at Harvey in year 2 after TJ. I agree with selling now for a pretty good haul, espec. w/that keeper value

2:36
Bravo: NL-only league, would you trade Bailey for Colin Rea?

2:36
Paul Sporer: Meh, I’d just take my shot on Bailey even though I don’t love TJ guys in year 1

2:36
Ombudsman: Matt Kemp seems like he’s hit a wall lately. Worth it to drop him for any of Michael Saunders, Yasmany Tomas, Jorge Soler, or Josh Reddick

2:36
Paul Sporer: How many teams?

2:36
Paul Sporer: Y’all gotta put your league size. That means SO much with these questions.

2:37
Dave: ROS- Ozuna or Conforto?

2:37
Paul Sporer: Ooooh you got me locked up on that one. Two guys I really like!! I’ll lean Ozuna bc of the pop

2:37
Oliver: Is there ANY hope of Keuchel doing anything ROS? or should have been dropped weeks ago

2:37
Paul Sporer: There’s SOME hope, but I’m not terribly hopeful

2:37
Reggie: Pts league, JUp for Harvey. Who says no?!

2:38
Paul Sporer: I think both prob do it.

2:38
Bart: Need pitching, drop Severino and Nicasio and add Ryu and Fulmer?

2:38
Paul Sporer: Ya that works (keep an eye on Sevvy returning, though), but I really like gambling on Ryu

2:38
Keeping it real: Rank these NL-only keepers: Franco, Russell, Soler, Mallex, Baez, Duvall

2:40
Paul Sporer: Baez over Mallex, otherwise it’s set. Franco/Russell v close

2:42
Guest: In a 12-team mixed with 6 pitching categories — QS, SV, Ks, ERA, WHIP, K/BB — should I ditch Fiers or Ian Kennedy to stash DeScalafani or Ryu for when they return from injury?

2:42
Paul Sporer: you could dump Fiers for Ryu

2:42
CW: Was offered harvey/cargo/C. Seager/madson for my manny/polanco/gausman/ramos. No way i’m doing that in a 10 tm keeper…but countered with harvey/seager for manny/gaus/ramos. Thoughts? Keep forever league

2:42
Paul Sporer: Keep Manny. Seager is a beast, but Manny is better

2:42
Rich: please rank: VV, Eickhoff, McCullers

2:42
Paul Sporer: VV, Mc, Eick

2:43
OddBall Herrera: “He’s not top 72 next yr anyway” prepare to be flamed by outraged prospect lovers

2:43
Paul Sporer: Haha

2:43
DW: Please rank–Gallo, Saunders & Wil Myers. Also, Pearce or Devon Travis as a short term replacement for Odor?

2:45
Paul Sporer: Myers, Gallo, Saunders (I just wanna take a shot on Gallo’s upside JUST in case the K% drop is real). Pearce for Odor replacement

2:46
CW: What do i do with Heyward? Constantly frustrated with him. 10 team OBP Keeper league

2:47
Paul Sporer: You could cut him in that format. Wrist likely an issue this yr

2:47
Junk Pile: Who would you rather have in an NL-only non-keeper 5×5 league: Brett Wallace or Scooter Gennett?

2:49
Paul Sporer: Wallace

2:50
Paul Sporer: My friend and I have a running joke wherein we’ve basically made Brett Wallace into Good Guy Greg. Wallace throws Melvin Upton soft toss for 45 minutes a day, even though he has things to do.

2:50
CW: Harvey- you trading for him? Keeper league, 10 teamer.

2:51
Paul Sporer: I have enough shares, lol. It’s a TRUE buy-low, though. The best comp has been used a lot, but it’s apt – look at Stras this time last year. If Harvey is battling through some health, he prob needs a 15-day’er to clear his head and get right but I still see potential excellence

2:51
Phishing in Philly: What do you think the odds are that Andrew Bailey emerges as the closer in Philly if Gomez falters?

2:51
Paul Sporer: Tiny. Neris is a monster and should get the next opp. Hell, even David Hernandez got himself on track

2:52
Rigo: puig for hendricks and strickland in NL-only. which side do you like?

2:52
Paul Sporer: I still have some belief in Puig, but if you need pitching, let’s go for it

2:52
1884: Offer Puig for Ozuna, or will the other owner scoff?

2:53
Paul Sporer: I’d be surprised if he scoffed. But if he’s a Puig hater, he might scoff. Def fair offer

2:53
Tex: I hear Ryu is close to coming back. What do you expect from him? Would you drop a T. Duffey or Karns to speculate on him?

2:53
Paul Sporer: I’d drop Duffey. I’m a Ryu fan. If healthy, he’s legit.

2:56
Paul Sporer: Please don’t repeat your questions. I’m getting to them as fast as I can

2:56
Hal Incandenza: Hey Paul. Thanks for spending so much time here each week. In a 10-teamer, is Urias worth a pickup over any of Maeda, Gausman, Rodon, Teheran, CMart? What about Fulmer after that 11K start?

2:57
Paul Sporer: Ehhhhh. I love Urias long term, but I just don’t see him besting that group in short-term. Maaaaayyyybbbeeee you can for Fulmer, but I don’t think it’s auto

2:57
julio: julio tehran fully turned it around?

2:57
Paul Sporer: Y’all know I like him!

3:00
Paul Sporer: I buy a lot of what we’re seeing, but not exactly the 2.57 ERA. I’d say more of a 3.30 ERA type

3:01
Matty Ice: 12 mixed league: would you rather stash Buxton or use a roster spot on Jarod Dyson?

3:02
Paul Sporer: Shoot for the stars with Buxy. May in AAA: .380/.443/.662 with 5 HR, 4 SBs – I’d scoop him in all leagues rn

3:02
Missing in Miami: If AJ Ramos is injured/traded, what do you think the odds are of Kyle Barraclough getting the closer role over David Phelps?

3:03
Paul Sporer: I can see it, but those BBs are massive for Barraclough

3:03
Don’t call me Pedro: What do the Dodgers decide on their forced Alex Guerrero decision?

3:06
Paul Sporer: I think he has some trade equity and they’ll be active

3:07
OddBall Herrera: A little surprised you go Bell over Dahl. Is that because of opportunity, or, if both were called up today, would you really prefer the former?

3:07
Paul Sporer: opportunity matters more to me w/prospects.

3:07
Paul Sporer: espec in now leagues

3:07
humphrey: 14 team keep-forever league, standard categories. I’m deep in pitching, need an SS. McCullers for Kang, fair?

3:07
Paul Sporer: yeah i like it a lot

3:07
Rich: my b. –14 team league 5×5 . Is Chen an every week starter or need to pick his spots?

3:08
Paul Sporer: I think in 14 tm, I’m still mostly starting him. Def home-only. Maybe skip random interleague v. BOS, BAL and those types. Also at COL. But otherwise, just use him

3:08
Jeff: Thoughts on Guyer? Lefty smasher, but getting a full-time look, good OBP skills with a bit of pop and speed .350 OBP 15/10 with good run totals a likely outcome?

3:08
Paul Sporer: I think he’s better than lefty-only so I’m eager to see him get a chance

3:10
Rigo: what do you see as scooter gennett’s total season stats?

3:12
Paul Sporer: is he in a platoon? seems like every day as long as he’s healthy

3:12
Jack: Offered in 10 team dynasty JBJ 0 and Harrison 5 for cano 25 and conforto 3. Feels like I’m giving up too much, right?

3:13
Paul Sporer: i’m a little unsure what you’re giving. Offered meaning you offered it or you’ve been offered? I prefer side B either way

3:13
Frank: Thoughts on Matt Moore. I was so pumped after Sept 2015 & April 2016…but May was rough. More ups and downs or will he improve?

3:14
Paul Sporer: We’re legally separated

3:14
Paul Sporer: I’m over it with him

3:14
Fresh Prints: What do you think the odds are that the Brewers trade Jeffress and Will Smith by the break and Knebel ends up closing?

3:15
Paul Sporer: I can def see it. Though I think they really like Jeffress and might keep him around bc of the off-field fit. Smith seems like an auto trade if they can get him showcased

3:15
Paul Sporer: but bottom line is Knebel is worth a deep spec for the exact reason you state

3:15
Tex: I love the super util potential of Baez (especially with Dozier as my 2B), but think Soler is going to put up better numbers this year. What say you?

3:15
Paul Sporer: I had em close in a ranking earlier

3:16
Paul Sporer: I lean Soler, but I’ve been low on Baez for a while so I might be too low on him

3:16
Zorak: In my points league, can I win with my strategy of “generally good players” rather than going for guys with a standout tool? My offense is being carried by the likes of Belt, Lindor, Jaso, Eaton and Fowler, none of whom post sexy numbers in any particular category

3:16
Paul Sporer: ya, points are points.

3:16
Randy: What do you expect from Manny Banuelos?

3:16
Paul Sporer: A DL stint

3:16
Piscotty sounds like a dessert: A Russell and Puig for Cueto, to little return for the two guys?

3:17
Paul Sporer: Not necessarily, no. Puig’s value is in a trough and Cueto’s is cresting.

3:17
Kenta Maeda: Am I any better than a streamer at this point?

3:17
Paul Sporer: You’ve really struggled to get deeper in games lately so I don’t love that. I’m OK streaming in a lot of formats

3:17
Young Jeezy: You still holding on Upton? What’s the chances this ‘injury’ is made up?

3:18
Paul Sporer: No if it were made up, it’d prob already be a DL stint. I’m sticking iwth him in all formats in terms of keep v. cut. I would sell low in some instances

3:18
Piscotty sounds like a dessert: Guy offered me Salazar for my Frazier, my pitching is hurting and I have Bryant as a 3b

3:18
Paul Sporer: That works!

3:18
Tommy Gunn: Traded Alex Colome for Justin Upton, how did I do or will I regret this by the end of the season?

3:19
Paul Sporer: No I like that. That’s a buy low

3:19
Matty Ice: I have a Trio of Thor, Gerrit Cole and Salazar. If I’m looking to trade one is Cole the one to go?

3:19
Paul Sporer: Cole prob more trade equity than Salazar, so yeah. Obv Thor has most equity, but you don’t wanna move hiM!

3:19
Boris: blair or adam morgan?

3:19
Paul Sporer: 15-team NL East Only?

3:20
Paul Sporer: Blair

3:20
Tommy Gunn: I have David Peralta coming back off the DL soon, who should I drop him or Nomar Mazara ROS?

3:21
Paul Sporer: How many tms? Between the two, it’s gotta be Peralta bc Mazara would snagged up instantly.

3:21
Randy: Will I be happy with Rendon for the ROS?

3:21
Paul Sporer: I think so

3:21
Paul Sporer: .981 OPS in L15

3:22
Mike: What is the deal with Jose Abreu? Did we rank him too high?

3:23
Paul Sporer: Sputtered a bit in April, but been fine in May. I’d buy anywhere

3:27
Rob2: Ros rest of season: A. Wood or Maeda?

3:27
Paul Sporer: Maeda. Not a huge AWood fan

3:27
einstein2u: thoughts on joe musgrove?

3:28
Paul Sporer: I’m a fan. Nice second-tier prospect I can see delivering for HOU in the near future

3:28
mike: is eduardo nunez breakout so for real?

3:30
Paul Sporer: Not a lot of skill change, but lofting the ball more and hitting it hard so there’s some realness, but he’s still over his head

3:30
Young Jeezy: H2H points league where closers are valued. But Britton is sitting out there, should I drop Smyly for him?

3:30
Paul Sporer: That seems weird that he’s out there, so I’m open to it

3:31
Rich: Future (hopefully soon) IF of the Astros : Reed, Altuve, Correra, Bregman — Could be #1 for Fantasy purposes for a long time?

3:31
Paul Sporer: Could

3:31
An attorney in Illinois: Experience Bij.

3:31
Paul Sporer: What?

3:31
Snowflake: If Swihart keeps getting regular time in the OF is he a viable C in a 1C mixer?

3:32
Paul Sporer: depends how many tms, but C has been so bad that maybe so

3:32
Larry: Danny Valencia turning into Tyler White, or is he still a 10-team bat?

3:32
Paul Sporer: Tyler White has cooled substantially. Valencia was v good last year. I’m still skeptical, but I’ve lightened up on my Valencia hate

3:33
fromSleeper2Bust: thoughts on Gordon after the suspension. when would be the time to grab off waivers, 14-tm OBP. I have Dietrich.

3:34
Paul Sporer: Maybe try to get him when there’s a month left

3:34
Daniel: d’Arnaud or Jaso ROS?

3:34
Paul Sporer: Jaso if C elig.

3:34
Thor: start gray tonight for sox

3:34
Paul Sporer: No

3:34
Colin: what type of pitcher can Adam Duvall fetch in NL-only?

3:35
Paul Sporer: A start-able one, I’d say

3:35
Tex: I’m leading the SVs category, with Britton, Ramos, Gomez and Colome. Should I keep rostering Neris, just in case, or speculate on another SP (Ryu, Erod) to help me in Ws where I’m middle of the pack? I’m worried that Gomez and/or Colome lose their closer roles.

3:35
Paul Sporer: Understand your concern of one losing their job, but I like Ryu. How many teams?

3:36
Paul Sporer: Y’all gotta include team count to get better answers. It’s the single biggest factor in deciding these answers

3:36
Jackson: AJ Reed should be up in a couple of weeks right? So…do you start him over Khris Davis, Conforto, Nomar or Myers?

3:36
Paul Sporer: Should, but no I wouldn’t.

3:37
Paul Sporer: should be up I mean.. and then I wouldn’t start him over those guys

3:37
Paul Sporer: just read that and it was confusiing

3:37
Matty Ice: Which prospect would you spend the most FAAB to get? Arcia, taillon, Bregman?

3:37
Paul Sporer: when they come up? Tai. Pitchers can usually make the biggest immediate impact

3:37
Pirates fan: What’re your thoughts on Gerrit Cole ROS? Better or worse than Greinke?

3:38
Paul Sporer: Better, but not insane differences. Got them about 7 ranks apart

3:38
Zorak: Hellickson gonna turn back in to a pumpkin or can I keep riding him?

3:39
Paul Sporer: Isn’t he kinda already a pumpkin? 3.97 ERA isn’t that special. I can buy the K jump which gives him some deep lg usefulness

3:39
Stewie: Do you think George Brett is still good for crapping his pants a couple of times per year?

3:39
Paul Sporer: Even more so as he gets old I’d assume

3:39
seablue: G Parra or Ellsbury ROS?

3:39
Paul Sporer: Parra

3:39
Eric: Is Carlos Martinez a buy low or stay away? Thanks

3:39
Paul Sporer: I can buy

3:39
1884: Stroman v. Bos this weekend?

3:40
Paul Sporer: I wouldn’t smash you for passing

3:40
John: Strong Pitching and weak hitting – ok to trade Walker for Longoria in an AL only roto?

3:41
Paul Sporer: Ya that’s fair

3:41
jon: Is Adam Jones/Odubel/Gattis a marginal or solid upgrade over Shaw/Duvall/Fielder? 12-team 5×5 h2h thanks!

3:41
Paul Sporer: Strong upgrade IMO

3:44
John: Travis off DL – drop Castro or Schoop?

3:46
Paul Sporer: I wouldn’t, but if you have strong preference toward Travis, you can cut Schoop. Close grouping

3:47
J: Vince Velasquez or Matt Harvey ROS?

3:47
Paul Sporer: Still Harvey, but a lot closer

3:48
Paul Sporer: Think I actually already answered that Ryu-Desclafani q

3:48
seablue: Thoughts on Wacha’s struggles?

3:53
Paul Sporer: They smack of injury unfortunately. Decline in velo, dogshit command, injury history

3:53
Christian: is mark reynolds elite

3:53
Paul Sporer: Obv

3:54
jon: Is Lindor > Russell > Bregman still the right rank in Dynasty/keeper? thanks!

3:55
Paul Sporer: Yeah I think so. I LOVE Russell, but I can’t put him over Lindor rn

3:55
Penguin: What do you think of Happ? Also your Sano-Cust compairson is spot on. Doesn’t mean Sano will be out of the league in a couple years, just the batting is similar.

3:56
Paul Sporer: I think Happ is usable in deeper leagues for sure. Maybe stream in 12-teamers. Ya I think ppl saw the Cust name and figured I was saying he’d be done in short order like Cust. I just meant his current skills are Custian. He can (and should) evolve, though

3:57
Macho: May, Smyly, Teixiera, Rasmus for Jake Lamb, BH Park, JH Kang. Which side do you prefer?

3:57
Paul Sporer: B

3:57
jon: Conley or Fulmer in 16-team 5×5 h2h? And are they hold class or stream class? thanks!

3:58
Paul Sporer: Hold and stream are kinda similar, no? I lean Conley bc NL and NL East specifically

3:59
DG: Is it time to cut Puig in 10-team mixed at this point? He looks absolutely lost at the plate.

3:59
Paul Sporer: You can. I wouldn’t, but I don’t think it’s INSANE

3:59
Ryan: Struggling despite high # of points scored in a 12 team H2H league. My Ellsbury or Ozuna and Aaron Sanchez for his Harvey and Rondon. Good move?

4:00
Paul Sporer: Not a bad gamble

4:00
Bobby: How do you feel about Wacha? Droppable? (12 teams)

4:00
Paul Sporer: This was in before I answered that other one, but yeah, I think he might be hurting. So I’d try to bench, but if you GOTTA cut, I get it

4:01
Garza Gifs: 6×6 Roto 12 Team Deep NL only. Traded Votto and Buchter for Arrieta. I have Carter and Moss at 1B. Did I do okay? I really needed QS, ERA and WHIP.

4:02
Paul Sporer: yeah that’s good for sure. surprised you were able to get arrieta for struggling votto

4:02
RxBalls: 10 team, Head-to-Head points league. Looking for flexibility on bats to use at my Util spot, and potentially stream at 3B or OF as needed. How would you rank for ROS – Ozuna, Mazara, Odubel, Franco, Tomas. Current 3B is Carpenter. Current OF: Harper, Cruz, Marte

4:03
Paul Sporer: Franco, Herrera, Maz, Ozuna, Tomas

4:03
Phanatic: For ROS how would you rank Ryu vs prospects like Taillon, Glasnow, Urias, Snell? Assume Ryu is taking a reserve not a DL slot.

4:04
Paul Sporer: I still like Ryu best. Snell, Taillon, and Urias, too

4:04
Eric: Which end of bench OF would you take in a 12 team OPS league: Span, Melky, Hazlebaker, Danny Santana or Orlando? Thanks

4:04
Paul Sporer: Span

4:04
Eric: What’s your take on Rua? Does his power make him intriguing in a 12 team OPS league or is he strictly for deeper? Thanks

4:04
Paul Sporer: I think deeper

4:04
Larry: Half hour in, only 3 1/2 more hours to go (to match last week)!

4:04
Paul Sporer: Haha, that won’t happen this week

4:07
Szey: Just wanted to say thanks. Love the podcast.

4:07
Paul Sporer: You’re welcome!

4:07
CJ: Worried about Stanton? Still top 3-5 outfielder?

4:07
Paul Sporer: Nah. Ya. It’s a couple bum weeks

4:07
jon: Santiago velo back down and 3 bad ones… streamer in 16-team?

4:08
Paul Sporer: Streamer at best. I’m over it with him. Done falling for him

4:08
Alex: His Carrasco, Ortiz, Shaw, and Rosenthal for my Aroldis, Verlander, and Donaldson… Standard 5×5… Thinking maybe Donaldson is too much. Bautista or Martinez instead a better deal?

4:08
Paul Sporer: Ya JD clear best player. I think I pass on that

4:08
Bill Norton Jr.: Masahiro Tanaka a hold or just a streamer in 10-team?

4:09
Paul Sporer: def a hold and play

4:09
Lona: Cameron Maybin for realz?

4:09
Paul Sporer: I mean he’s a solid player when healthy, but obv not this good

4:13
Buff: How worried should I be about Corbin? Lower velo and K’s, higher HR’s and BB’s.

4:13
Paul Sporer: Def worried. he’s getting CLOCKED regularly

4:17
Barry: Iwakuma worth a pickup in 12-team mixed?

4:17
Paul Sporer: who ya cuttin? he’s OK

4:17
dave in slc: do you expect goldy to be himself again this year or try to sell w name value to get a good hitter and pitcher in return to add depth? nl only keeper 12 tm\

4:17
Paul Sporer: I think his struggles are greatly overstated

4:17
Laurence: Justin Verlander a top 20 arm ROS? Boy, has he been good…

4:17
Paul Sporer: I’ve got him there on rest of season ranks rn

4:18
rudolph: 12 team mixed keeper: Nelson Cruz or Marcell Ozuna ROS? Would you trade Hamels for either?

4:18
Paul Sporer: Still Cruz. Would move Hamels for Cruz

4:18
Linus: What do you make of Adam Jones ROS?

4:19
Paul Sporer: he’s ok. don’t love him

4:19
Billy: Was really hoping for 25 SB from Pillar this year. Can you give me hope?

4:20
Paul Sporer: they usually come in clusters. so he’s a big week from being back on pace

4:20
Guest: 18-teamer, got offered cutch for darvish. strong in OF and SP. do i do it?

4:20
Paul Sporer: yeah I would

4:20
John: Got offered Melvin Jr. for Justin – go for it or keep stashing him til…whenever?

4:20
Paul Sporer: take Justin

4:21
Buff: Please rank in order of likelihood of saves: Neris, Strop, Oh, Clippard.

4:21
Paul Sporer: Oh, Clipp, Neris, Strop

4:21
Boris: Feliz still a top 25 SP?

4:21
Paul Sporer: Felix?

4:21
Mel: Aaron Nola gonna keep this up?

4:21
Paul Sporer: I’m a fan, but this will come down some

4:21
Rick: Any chance Ryan Zimmerman ever gets back to being a .280 hitter with 25 HR pop or is what he is doing now what he is?

4:25
Paul Sporer: Seems to heat up with the weather lately w/big 2Hs. All about health it seems, too

4:25
paul sporer-er!: 5×5 keeper 12 team mixed league, I have too much pitching and not enough power, should I trade Scherzer and Urias for Mookie Betts?

4:25
Paul Sporer: That’s too much

4:28
Spanky: Does it feel like Goldy hasn’t been top five or ten for a while to you?

4:28
Paul Sporer: For a while meaning these 2 months of 2016?

4:28
Royal Man: Saunders vs. Souza ROS. Who is safer bet? Considering that, would you trade Saunders for Souza and Corbin if my staff is currently Scherzer, Stroman, Kennedy, Hendricks and Dickey in 15 team mixed?

4:29
Paul Sporer: Ya I’d take Souza and Corb. Souza and Saunders aren’t that diff so it’s a free Corbin

4:29
Gorky: Rajai Davis a 10-team bat, or too shallow?

4:29
Paul Sporer: too shallow unless you have a very specific SB need then you could make an exception

4:29
Mike: Deep Dynasty: Fiers or AWood?

4:29
Paul Sporer: Fiers, but it’s close

4:29
daviddal: Puig was just dropped in my 14 th hth which is the better drop for him Manaea or Hahn AJ Reed?

4:29
Paul Sporer: drop Reed unless you don’t need Sps

4:29
Brian: Would you drop Conley for Urias?

4:29
Paul Sporer: Probably not

4:30
Paul Sporer: I mean, I just don’t know what kinda quantity we get from Urias

4:30
Paul Sporer: Honestly, I’m really torn on that. Bc Urias’ magnitude could be worth it even if the IP aren’t there

4:30
Paul Sporer: f it, i’m changing my answer, get Urias

4:30
Josecanyousee: How should I feel as a worried Cutch owner? Please comfort me

4:30
Paul Sporer: .801 OPS, just not that far off the pace

4:31
Spanky: Would you drop Span for the upside of Buxton? Span is riding my pine. Fill-in type.

4:31
Paul Sporer: then yeah, go ahead

4:31
Doug: Julio Urias just called up opens a minor leaguer slot in my H2H league. Who is your best prospect no one is talking about?

4:31
Paul Sporer: Joe Musgrove

4:31
Barry: Read your article on Brett Lawrie and I like him to beat projections too. Wondering if his batting ratios this year are for real. Career high BB%, K%, FB%…

4:31
Paul Sporer: Ya that article basically gives my breakdown. I like him

4:31
Buff: Corbin or Nelson ROS?

4:31
Paul Sporer: Nelson

4:31
Brock Holt!: What’s your approach with TJ victims in a deep keeper/dynasty? I am currently thinking of cashing in Richards for someone like Lackey with iffy keeper value due to age but very solid immediate value ROS.

4:32
Paul Sporer: ya I’d do that bc I stay away from them in year 1 of their return

4:32
Melvin: JoFer, Hamels, Nola, Verlander, Tanaka a good enough rotation to contend in 10-team?

4:32
Paul Sporer: I’d think so, yes

4:32
phil: Will Joey Gallo play every day soon? What do you see his numbers for the rest of the year?

4:33
Paul Sporer: I think they’ll work him in. I see power and Ks until he proves the K improvements are real

4:33
Ben: Will Corey Seager eventually put up Kyle’s numbers at his peak?

4:33
Paul Sporer: He can surpass them

4:33
Sammy: Super desperate for a second Catcher! Better pickup, Plawecki or Carlos Perez?

4:33
Paul Sporer: Perez I guess

4:34
Bundy: You a believer in the power breakout for Castellanos? Sustainable for keeper leagues?

4:35
tywin: O/U Colome saves ROS?

4:35
Paul Sporer: 20

4:35
Paul Sporer: Whoops, my Cast msg deleted.

4:36
Paul Sporer: I’ve always been a fan. He’ll cool some, but I can see another 15 HRs this year pushing mid-20s

4:36
GausmanOnTheMoon: Would you drop a $2 Gausman or $2 Glasnow in a 12 team keeper league? Had a rash of injuries and need a bat.

4:36
Paul Sporer: Glasnow

4:36
steve: tillman and velazquez for cargo and j. garcia? have salazar, carrasco, muccullers.

4:36
Paul Sporer: I like side B a little

4:36
Booyah: Grichuk or JUpton ROS?

4:37
Paul Sporer: J Up barely

4:37
Benny: Where’s all the Runs from Adam Eaton?

4:37
Paul Sporer: their O has gone cold

4:37
Duda Abides: how do you feel about Sano in OBP and Slub leagues? I have him in 12 team keeper…

4:37
Paul Sporer: He’s much better in those lgs

4:38
Ghost: 12 team mixed… is my season toasted w 5.0, 1.4 era and whip? Definitely not beasting but still kind of like my staff to have better days to come.

4:38
Paul Sporer: I mean pitching ratios can change on a dime with a huge run, but you need the huge run. You’re in some trouble, I won’t sugarcoat it

4:38
3b rankings: Rank em – Beltre, Castellanos, Shaw, Lamb

4:38
3b rankings: and thanks! 🙂

4:39
Paul Sporer: I think that’s the order. Yes even with Beltre lowest of the bunch in wrC+ rn

4:39
The Kid: Thoughts on Hanley ROS? Do I try to get rid of him ASAP, before he’s hurt?

4:39
Paul Sporer: I like Hanley and love that offense

4:39
Balky: Is it too much to expect Matt Kemp to repeat last season’s numbers?

4:40
Paul Sporer: He’ll come close except for SBs. Usually heats up in summer, too

4:41
Blue Morpho: 10 team, pretty balanced between rp/sp. Have Colome but I’m scared Boxy will take over, so I want to handcuff until it gets figured out. Is it worth dropping any of S.Wright, Gausman, or J.Ross to do this? (Have Carrasco coming off DL so hopefully everything is settled by the time he’s back and I can drop one of the cuff then)

4:42
Paul Sporer: You can jump off the SWright train

4:42
Cheslor: Moose out for the year with torn ACL. Am i worth a stash in a dynasty league

4:42
Paul Sporer: Aw nuts! I guess you can gamble that Cuthbert does something, but it better be deep

4:42
No Regrets: How do you answer so many questions so fast? Does Charlotte handle half?

4:42
Paul Sporer: LOL, yes, she’s a great typist and looks cute doing it with her paws

4:43
The Kid: Grapefruit or Kiwi ROS?

4:43
Paul Sporer: Grapefruit is Papelbon of fruits

4:43
Jordan: Somebody just dropped CarGo in my 10 team H2H 5×5 OBP league. Figure out a way to pick him up?

4:43
Paul Sporer: ya that seems like an overreactin

4:43
MO: Any thoughts on Profar ROS, assuming he gets the call this weekend?

4:43
Paul Sporer: Still a top pedigree guy. I’d gamble in deeper leagues

4:43
Chill: Rodon velo back up, buying in?

4:45
Paul Sporer: I’m a fan long-term, but don’t see a huge jump this year

4:45
2020allstars: am I crazy to think Ryan Buchter is an interesting stash in deeper leagues?

4:45
Paul Sporer: No

4:46
KD: I know my question is terrible, but at 3 1/2 in, loyalty should buy me an answer, right? NL only 10 team, 3 year keeper with $3 inflation each year: Was offered $27 for Harvey for $7 Albies. Yeah or Nah?

4:46
Paul Sporer: If you’re competing this year, go for it

4:46
Paul Sporer: OK y’all, I gotta roll

4:46
Paul Sporer: can’t go as long this week

4:46
Paul Sporer: thank y’all so much for coming out! have a great Memorial Day Weekend!
