Today’s Roto Riteup leaves you in the able hands of Professor Pony for the weekend.
Masahiro Tanaka hits the DL
The epidemic continues as TANAK lands on the disabled list with elbow inflammation. The Japanese right-hander will undergo an MRI to reveal the extent of the damage, but as of writing there is nothing specific to report. Tanaka has been an absolute stud for a Yankees team in need of good news, and losing the ability to watch his splitter once or twice a week would be a real shame for all baseball fans.
Derek Holland to rehab after break
Holland has been out all year since a personal accident ripped up his knee, but he’ll start a rehab assignment after the All-Star break. Holland’s absence is one of the reasons the Rangers have struggled this year, but his return will be too little, too late, for one of the worst teams in the league. Holland could be solid the rest of the way, but owners should consider him if you need a boost over the last six weeks of the season.
Tom Wilhelmsen to start today
In an attempt to match King Felix Hernandez up against the Oakland Athletics, WIlhelmsen will take his place in the rotation for this evening’s matchup against the Minnesota Twins. Wilhelmsen was drafted as a starter long ago, but he’s been in the bullpen since debuting in the majors leagues back in 2011. Wilhelmsen started a couple of games in AAA last season, and they were an absolute disaster, and I don’t expect anything different while in the bigs. Unfortunately, the Twins lineup isn’t great, but make use of their guys when you can today. They could be in for a treat.. On the Mariners’ side of things, guys like Brandon Maurer and Dominic Leone could see extended innings in relief.

Bailey hasn’t been a little down this year, but hopefully he lives up to his price point against the Cubs.
