RotoGraphs Audio: The Sleeper and the Bust 07/31/2014

Episode 148

The latest episode of “The Sleeper and the Bust” is now live! Eno Sarris and Nicholas Minnix discuss trades, trades, and more trades! MLB’s 2014 non-waiver trade deadline was heated, heavy, and dramatic. Plenty of reaction to and thoughts on the fallout of the swaps of David Price and Austin Jackson; Jon Lester and Yoenis Cespedes; John Lackey; Justin Masterson; Asdrubal Cabrera; Jarred Cosart; and a host of other deals, such as involving Martin Prado or Chris Denorfia.

As usual, don’t hesitate to tweet us or comment with fantasy questions so that we may answer them on our next episode.

Thanks to Ian Miller, aka Teen Archer, for the intro/outro music. Approximately 99 minutes of joyous analysis.

Thanks for the quick reaction to all of today’s action, guys. Any chance you can talk about Billy Butler’s RoS prospects in the next one? Was looking back at “A Less Balanced Country Breakfast” that you guys ran in May and it looks like his recent hot streak has him back on track? Plus Hosmer is out so… 1B eligibility on the horizon!

Any chance you guys can discuss Brett Gardner’s ROS and if you guys expect him to continue this increased power production in the next couple of years. Thanks.

Not exactly a podcast question, but what is the read on when the next round of consensus rankings come out. It has been a while and a lot of changes have happened since the last round. I know they are a lot of work, but I love those things. Helps give an idea of a player’s floor and ceiling and how he stacks up against other players. Invaluable for trade analysis (and my league’s deadline is two weeks away).

Great podcast guys, it has been a big help to my team all year long.

Do you guys have any thoughts on Wil Venable going forward? He was a very solid fantasy contributor to my team last year, but basically bottomed out in the first half. I know it’s a small sample size, but he seems to have been hitting much better so far in the second half and is once again putting up decent power and speed numbers. Is he someone I should look to scoop up off my waiver wire? Or are we simply seeing a nice run of good luck and he is about the crash again?
