Due to the lack of elite second basemen, does it make sense to deal Adrian Gonzalez for Cano straight up in a keeper league, and try to find a power 1b bat somewhere in the draft or do you hold tight with AGon?
The event will start a few minutes late as we work out a technical issue. Thanks for your patience.
@Nick — I think it would have if Gonzalez were still in SD, but now that he’s going to be hitting somewhere in the 3-4-5 hole for the Red Sox, you’re going to see a huge jump in numbers playing 1/2 his games at Fenway Park. I’d hold onto him, and if you’re still interested in dealing him, you’re likely to get a lot more after the 2011 season.
thank you for the input matthew. happy holidays!
Outside of a few absolutely terrible starts for Tommy Hanson in 2010, he pitched beautifully. His K/9 dropped off in the second half. His OPS against in the first half was .724, second-half was .567. Despite his K/9 dipping after the break, he became less hittable and lowered his walks considerably.
From April to July he struck out over a batter per inning. In the last two months, it dipped to around 5.5. Increased work load perhaps?
In any case, I’m not worried in the least about Hanson. He has the tendancy to implode in a few starts and has trouble putting hitters away sometimes(much like Hamels in 2009), but he’s lights out the rest of the way through the season.
One more thing, the 2nd inning……For whatever reason, it was far and away his worst inning to pitch…..855 OPS in the 2nd last year.
