I don’t think there’s much doubt that Downs is a better pitcher than Walden right now and despite their record, the Angels are contenders. Downs has a .601 OPS against the last three years, with a minimal platoon split. The guy has quietly been one of the best setup men in the league. I think he holds the job.

Scioscia has to be one of the most overrated managaers in MLB. Pulls Wladen after the guy has gotten virtually no work in and his 2nd save chance. Granted he hasn’t been good, but give the gus some work and a vote of confidence. Scioscia really hurt the team with his treatement of Napoli and there’s countless other issues. The state of the Angels, with the starting rotation they have and stars in the line has got to fall on Scioscia’s shoulders for the blame.

Probably a poor man’s Victorino, at first glance at the career numbers:

Victorino: .159 ISO, 7.7 Spd
Parra: .122 ISO, 6.0 Spd

Then again, Parra is 25 and the Hawaian is 31 so we probably haven’t seen Parra’s power peak yet
