Tuesday Pitcher Streaming Options

I am doing the streaming pitchers dumpster diving edition. As Eno just pointed out, tomorrow looks like the day to mass stream. I will only be looking at pitchers owned in 10% or less of all leagues at Yahoo.

Notice – Don’t worry about streaming pitcher’s hurting a team’s WHIP values. It is the last few days of the season and players are really not care too much about winning, except those on a few teams. The players are hacking away and walk rates drop by about 10% over the last few days of the season.

Patrick Corbin (home vs COL) – I think this is the best pickup of the barely owned pitchers for tomorrow. Our own Mike Podhorzer looked at him in with this match up a few days ago.

Jacob Turner (home vs. NYM) – Turner had great success in the minors until he was called up in 2011. He was not able to achieve the same strike out ability with the Tigers. Since being traded to the Marlins from the Tigers, he has seen his K/BB go from 1.0 to 3.6. Take a chance on him especially since the game is in Miami.

The Mets are not a great offense team. Turner should net his owner a decent late boost.

Travis Blackley – (home vs TEX) – With most teams pretty much mailing it in on the day after they clinch and with Texas possibly clinching the West tonight against Oakland, I could see this being chance for Blackley to put up some good numbers for a few reasons.

1. He is pitching at home in Oakland.
2. The A’s are still fighting for the Wild Card.
3. He is a decent pitcher. 2.2 K/BB.
4. Texas could taking the game off.

Casey Kelly (away vs. MIL) – Kelly has been prone to the long ball since being called up by the Padres. His 1.6 HR/9 rate is far from ideal. The HR rate has led to an ERA (6.21) and FIP (4.80) that are more than a point higher than his xFIP (3.87) and SIERA (3.72). A 2.6 K/BB rate is decent for a pitcher only owned in 3% of all leagues.

Chris Volstad (home vs HOU) – Starting Volstad is a straight play for Wins. He will put of horrible rate stats.

Wow, I love this article just for the amazing research that it cites/linked! That piece should get more publicity in the SABR and fantasy baseball communities!
