I have Bourne and Adam Jones for (net) steals in a 12-team,10×10, H2H league and don’t need Roberts to run. I dropped Juan Pierre for him as soon as I saw his first night numbers. He’ll be a bench swingman with Saltalamacchia. Pedroia is my everyday 2B, with Cuddyer (great flexibility!) available as well.

I dropped Rickie Weeks to pick up Roberts, I just got fed up with Weeks lack of production.

I have to imagine League will get the majority of saves for a while because Seattle wants to build up his trade value. Once League is traded…which seems fairly likely, Wihelmsen should get the first shot. Buying now, or at least once League gets a few saves, could be worthwhile in a deeper league down the road.

You aren’t worried by Eric Wedge saying on Sunday, of League:

“We feel the last time out was everything we were looking for. That was it. That was everything, from the way he carried himself to the stuff to the competition to the situation. And we felt, really, the three previous times he threw the ball was pretty good, too. Pretty consistent. We feel he’s right there. Tom (Wilhelmsen) has done a nice job for us late in the ballgame. We’ve had a lot of other guys in the bullpen do a nice job, too. We’ll stay where we are today. At some point in time, sooner or later, we’ll look to get Leaguer another shot at closing. I’m not going to do that on a whim. I’m going to have a conversation with him first. I’m not going to surprise anybody. We haven’t had that conversation yet.” ?

I’ve owned Roberts in my keeper league since 2008. I may have to drop him because of the relative lack of certainty compared to my other options. I really don’t want to because of the potential but I’m having a hard time believing he will convince me to start him over the likes of Daniel Murphy/Aaron Hill/Mike Aviles.

Maybe someone else on my team will go to the DL to occupy the spot he’s kept warm for the better part of 2 or 3 years. :-\

Yeah, for that price it’s a solid dice roll. Maybe he hits like gangbusters, maybe he doesn’t, but even in the worst case scenario, it’s not like you’re out much in the way of money or time.
