Profile: The 32-year-old Clippard is a frustrating pitcher to own because of his two main traits: a high walk rate and fly ball tendencies. Giving up walks is never a sound strategy, especially in the late innings. He has nearly walked four batters per nine innings in the past two seasons (3.93 and 3.71). Additionally, he is an extreme flyball pitcher with the 5th-highest fastball percentage among qualified relievers last season. Normally his fly balls would be caught for easy outs, but eventually a run of bad luck will happen with a few going over the fences. He has been more homer-prone the last couple of seasons (0.6 to 1.0 to 1.4 home runs per nine innings) as his fastball velocity has declined (91.8 to 91.5 to 91.1 mph). With the declining skills and two top-10 relievers ahead of him (Aroldis Chapman and Dellin Betances) in the Yankees bullpen, the chances for Clippard to get any saves is almost non-existent. (Jeff Zimmerman)

The Quick Opinion: Clippard's save chances are low because of declining skills and a loaded Yankees bullpen.
